May 27, 2022

Can't wait for summer 2022 either? We are all secretly already planning out our holiday outfits in our heads, counting the days till we can finally wear them. To give you some more inspiration for your dream summer wardrobe, here are 10 of the biggest fashion trends this summer you need to know about.

#1: Crochet Everything

Crochet literally screams summer. Crochet tops, crochet bags, crochet hats, crochet bikinis... honestly, anything is possible with crochet! Matching sets are very popular at the moment, so we can definitely expect to see some crochet sets too. Crochet is perfectly suitable for summer, as it has a light and sort of airy texture.

For example, it could be used as a cover-up at the beach or you could get creative and even crochet yourself a cute top. Stores like H&M, Hollister, and Stradivarius already have some crochet items available, make sure to check them out!

#2: Tube Tops

Another '90s trend making its way back to 2022: tube tops. These are going to be really popular this summer. They are so easy to match and are a real closet staple.

A trendy combination we are going to see appear a lot this summer is the tube top paired with a maxi skirt. Super suitable for going out for dinner on a warm summer night. You could also style the tube top more casually, like wearing it with your favorite cargo pants, your best pair of jeans or perhaps you own some satin trousers you have no idea what to do with?

There are so many options with the tube top and you have the perfect opportunity of trying all of them in the upcoming summer, therefore a perfect summer 2022 staple to have in your closet. Some of my favorite tube tops are from ASOS, but they are available in other stores you prefer more too.

#3: Maxi Skirts

You already saw them, but midi and especially maxi skirts are going to be really popular this summer. As already mentioned, they go perfectly well with tube tops, but also with a corset top, with a (white) button-up shirt or you could always choose a skirt in a color that matches your bikini top. The options are simply endless.

Mini skirts were a big trend last year and still remain popular, but the maxi skirts are going to take their shine and moment this summer. NA-KD has some of my favorite skirts, including some cute crochet maxi skirts, making it possible to combine two trends in one!

#4: Knitwear

Knitwear has been really trendy this winter already and we will definitely be seeing it in summer again. Knitwear tops and knitwear dresses in each pattern and each format are going to be very stylish. One particular design that is already really popular right now, is the dark blue and royal yellow twisted knit top.

You can shop for this particular design at Micas. The best-knitted dresses are definitely the ones from either ASOS or Trendyol.

#5: Pleated Sets

These pleated sets are the best choice for you if you have always had a bit of trouble matching and planning your outfits. Monochrome pleated sets are available in very popular colors, like green, dark blue, beige, and white. Sets are always very practical to have in your wardrobe and therefore an absolute must-have.

They are super comfy and perfect for watching a sunset with your lover or a picnic with friends on a sunny day. Pleated sets are available at H&M and there are also a few at Stradivarius.

#6: Corsets

Corsets have been really trendy for a long while now and they will continue to be popular in summer. Meanwhile, lots of different sorts of corsets have come along, like strapless corsets or tops where you can recognize the corset effect in them. That means loads of different designs to try out.

They look super cute with some light blue jeans or a chic mini or maxi skirt and they will look great under blazers too. You can shop for the cutest corsets at ZARA.

#7: Cut-Outs

All sorts of cut-outs and splices on items such as dresses or tops have been popular for a while now and will continue to be trendy this summer. Of all of the dress sorts that are going to be much wanted this summer, the cut-out dress will definitely be the most famous design out of all. The thing with cut-outs is that it doesn't matter how big the cut is or where it is located exactly, as long as there is a cut-out somewhere it passes. At ASOS there is a large selection of all kinds of cut-outs available.

8: Platform Sandals

Probably one of the most controversial trends on this list: platform sandals. Love it or hate it, this is going to be one of the biggest fashion trends this summer. They are available in lots of different formats and colors, making them go well with any outfit you'll be wearing this summer.

If you are a very alert reader, you might have even noticed the sandals making their appearance with some other trends listed earlier. Kendall Jenner pairs them with a colorful maxi dress, meaning that this trend has been Kendall Jenner-approved. At NA-KD, you'll find a pair of sandals that resemble Kendall's sandals, but you could also switch up and pick another kind of design.

#9: Y2K Sunglasses

These sunnies give off the biggest "it girl" vibes ever. Y2K trends have a way of making grand comebacks, and these cool sunglasses are a good example. These sunglasses, like the sandals, are very controversial too and not everyone will love them, but that shouldn't stop people who do like these throwback shades from not wearing them.

These sunglasses will look really cool with, for example, your favorite pair of cargo pants or your most loved little black dress. The best Y2K sunglasses are available on Amazon.

#10: Orange

This summer will be all about pops of color and color clashing here and there, therefore the color orange will be the trendiest color of all. Orange is a fun color to experiment with, in combination with other bright colors like yellow and pink. If you're wearing an all-white set, why don't you add a cute orange bag to keep things interesting?

What about an all-orange set? Orange gives off a tropical, happy, carefree, overall summer vibe. Look at Laura Herrier slaying the color orange.

Hopefully, these trends give you some summer inspiration and you feel well prepared for summer 2022 now. Have fun styling and matching these items!
