2022 is here and so is our new wardrobe! A new year is a perfect excuse to invest in some new wardrobe pieces. Get your shopping list ready because here are #10 trendy and stylish items you need to start your year in the best way possible.
#1: Distressed Knitwear
The knitwear trend comes back every year, with different styles. In 2022, I have a feeling that distressed knitwear will be really trendy. Knitwear is something that is worn a lot in the autumn and winter, but distressed knitwear can be worn and matched with every season.
Distressed knitwear comes in many sorts and forms, but my favorite kind of sort is definitely the one below. These look great with, for example, a white blouse underneath or with a black skirt and some boots. Now, distressed knitwear is something that's not in all stores yet, but a great place to buy it is Emmiol.
#2: Cargo Pants
Now, cargo pants have been around for a long time, but will surely be seen again in 2022. They are known as wide, baggy, pocketed pants, but lots of variations have formed since. The pants are usually worn in the color khaki, but olive and black are popular ones too.
Check out Emily Ratajkowski rocking the cargo pants in the color olive! Cargo pants look great with crop tops, but will also look super cute with an oversized t-shirt. You can get cargo pants in almost all stores, but my favorite place to get them is definitely Stradivarius. They have a lot of different colors and formats to choose from.
#3: Mini Skirts
Mini-skirts have been a big trend in previous years already, but can you blame them? These skirts are just so stylish and really cute. These are ideal to wear in summer, but you can also wear them in spring of course.
Match it with a (long-sleeved) baby tee or another cute top. If you don't own some mini skirts already, you definitely need them for 2022! Take a look at the mini skirt with a split in it below.
Mini skirts are really popular, so you can probably get them at your favorite store too. I like the ones from Brandy Melville the most.
#4: Pearl Core
From pearl necklaces to pearl hairclips, pearl core is gonna stick around in 2022. Pearl core is rising and I love to see it! Pearls are coming back in all different shapes; pearl earrings, clothing stapled with pearls, pearl rings... I can name loads of examples, but you get the idea.
Pearls, therefore, are a perfect thing to invest in for 2022. You can add them to any outfit you'd want, I think they would look really good black. Pearls are findable in a lot of jewelry shops, I personally like the ones from Evry Jewels the most. They are sometimes combined with a cute gold piece or with some colorful beads.
#5: Lots of Leather
Honestly, you can't go wrong with leather! We all know the famous leather jeans and the long leather jackets. As trench coats are getting more popular now, I'm sure there will be a leather trench coat trend in 2022 too.
The jeans and jackets got trendy in the color black but now are also worn a lot in brown, olive, etc. Bella Hadid shows us how fabulous leather can look as she wears a full, brown leather outfit. I think the leather items at ZARA are really cute, definitely go check them out!
#6: Chain Belts
Another trend from the '90s; chain belts. These are the perfect addition to a plain outfit. You can use them on your jeans, skirts, dresses, etc.
They give the outfit a cool twist and make a boring outfit a lot more interesting too. Take a look at the picture below, the gold chain is really the best addition to it ever. Missoma has some really cute ones, but they are kind of expensive though. Try the ones from ASOS instead!
#7: Plaid Skirts
You absolutely need some plaid skirts in your closet, because these will remain iconic forever. They match the fall and winter season the best, but the brighter colored ones can absolutely be worn in spring and summer too. With so many colors and designs to choose from, you'll never get bored with these.
You can match them with a knitted sweater or a cute cardigan. Some high socks will look good with them too. Plaid skirts are probably available everywhere, but my favorites are the ones from Princess Polly and Hollister!
#8: Bigger Shoulderbags
Over the years, the cute little shoulderbags have risen to a big trend. In 2022, it's time to let the bigger ones shine too. These are as cute and stylish as the little ones, and actually, much more practical too.
You don't hear me say no to more space. In 2022, bright colors are going to be really in so you could get your bigger shoulderbags in some fun colors if you'd like. You can get these at ASOS.
#9: Feathered Cuffs
We will definitely see feathers appear in 2022, but what I love most are feathered cuffs. You can find these on jackets, blazers, dresses, etc. They spice up the outfit a bit and look really cool.
It adds a bit of detail to your whole look, which is only a good thing. Feathered cuffs are findable in lots of different colors. Try the Missguided ones, they have a lot of other feathered items too.
#10: '70s Glasses
Some elements of the '70s fashion style will make a comeback in 2022, like jumpsuits and also big glasses. What I like about these glasses is their oversized format. Yes, they are going to feel like they will fall off your nose, but they are way too pretty to put off.
