My Indian Hair Care Secrets: How I Naturally Achieved Healthy, Silky Hair from Thin and Fragile Hair

Activities

July 19, 2025

My late maternal grandmother had the longest hair, no dandruff, and the silkiest hair ever. It was completely natural. My aunt, mom, and I all have the same hair.

My hair is soft and shiny. But I am a very critical person, and I want healthy hair in the long run.

So I figured, why not buy products? But then I recalled that I'm Indian, and Indians have great hair care practices. Why spend a 100 dollars?

So far, I have not used a single product, relying solely on nature's gifts to care for my hair. Now, I occasionally go to a hair spa, but this technique mimics the result.

In this article, I will provide hair care ideas that I have acquired over the years, as well as hair care advice from my family and ancient Indians.

I have very thin and fragile hair, but I get the most bouncy, silky, hair that looks like I used hair gloss. It looks healthy and soft without spending hundreds of dollars on products that will prevent your hair from becoming healthy. The impact will be seen after one wash.

Our Agreement: If you adopt this method, do so exactly as instructed and do not listen to online influencers. Follow my advice and you'll have the hair you see in the photographs in three easy stages. Avoid using any products like conditioner, hair serum, mask or gloss. You'll never need one.

1. Using Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

For a long time, I used coconut oil; you may use any, but I prefer Extra Virgin because it is less processed and contains less contaminants. Coconut oil moisturises and softens hair. If you're looking for something to ease itching and dryness, try coconut oil.

This is a light oil. It eliminates split ends and leaves your hair bouncy and silky.

Coconut oil contains medium-chain triglycerides, a type of fat that aids the body's energy production, but this one also strengthens hair repair. It contains Vitamin D.

Coconut oil decreases the ageing process in your hair. Hair ages the same way that skin does. Because of this anti-ageing property, you have a better chance of experiencing less hair loss, younger-looking hair, and hair that begins producing greys gradually at a later age.

Coconut oil acts as a protective barrier against illnesses and infections on the scalp. It is now a heat-resistant product that also protects your hair from UV rays. That is good. It reduces frizz.

How Do I Use It?

So, I prefer to apply directly from the bottle because I have a notion of the measurements. However, you take less than one-quarter of the bowl.

A. Like one-fifth or one-sixth of a cup of coconut oil. Not the large bowl.

And you apply it mostly on your scalp before spreading it throughout your hair. Oiling your hair is critical because it is dead yet reveals the most. Apply to the split ends.

B. Massage your head for fifteen minutes. It improves circulation, which speeds up the entire hair-growth process. Massage for 10–15 minutes.

C. Unlike those who recommend leaving it on your hair for 10 minutes. Don't ever listen to them.

Leave it for, minimum, half an hour. Maximum of 3 hours. This gives the goodies time to work on your hair.

D. When shampooing your hair, make sure to double cleanse it. Don't use conditioner, serum, or gloss. After using coconut oil, you will never need one again.

2. Extra Virgin Olive Oil

I've been using it for three years, and trust me when I say Olive Oil and I are great friends. I can't live without it. You can use any olive oil, but I like extra virgin olive oil because it is less processed.

This genuinely works as a hair gloss. Deep conditioner and hair gloss.

You'll have everything like coconut oil, but with luscious hair that looks like it came from a salon. The hair is quite shiny. It makes your hair heat resistant, allowing you to style it as often as you want without worrying about heat damage.

Olive oil is rich in vitamins E and K. E helps to nourish the hair, whereas K promotes skin barrier and bone health. After only one application, you will have the healthiest hair conceivable.

It promotes hair development; therefore, there is no need to use rice water. It calms the scalp, eliminating dandruff and itching.

Bouncy, thick, shiny hair, similar to that seen in movies. Avoids split ends and head lice. Trust me, this is a doctor, stylist, and hair treatment all in one bottle.

How do I Use It?

A. Use less than a quarter cup of olive oil. Measurements according to hair length. Apply to the scalp, and apply to all ends of the hair.

B. After applying the massage for 15 minutes, massage your hair again 10 minutes before washing it. The olive oil activation is most effective in this situation. Massaging, then give your hair a ten-minute break before washing your hair, letting your scalp relax.

C. Leave it for at least 1 hour and 30 minutes and up to 8 hours. I like to get up early and complete my routine by 6 a.m., after which I apply my oil, massage it, and wash it off at 6.30 p.m.

3. My All-in-One Hair Mask

Ingredients

1. Neem Paste

2. Coconut/Olive Oil (or use both)

3. Honey (optional)

4. Plain Yoghurt

5. Aloe Vera Gel (straight out of the plant is the best option)

How Do I Use It?

A. Mix all of these ingredients in a bowl. Use as much as you feel like

B. Massage 10-15 minutes

C. Leave for a minimum of 1 hour and 30 minutes and a maximum of 2 hours.

D. Wash your hair

Benefits

Neem Paste - Doctor of the hair. It prevents infections, lice, disease, itchiness, like a permanent remover of dandruff. Also, it strengthens hair follicles and strands and hydrates hair, minimising hair loss.

Aloe Vera - Contains vitamins A, C, and E, which promote healthy hair development by improving cell health. It provides additional nutrients for hair follicles. It contains enzymes that eliminate sebum and dead cell buildup from the scalp, providing it a fresher environment for the hair to grow in. It has the keratin effect.

Honey - Honey possesses humectant properties, which replenish moisture and hydrate your hair. It contains proteins that strengthen each hair strand. Its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory qualities promote greater hair health. It improves the gloss of the hair.

Plain Yoghurt - Yoghurt helps to soothe the scalp down. The calcium in yoghurt behaves like keratin, promoting hair follicles. Lactic acid exfoliates the scalp, eliminating dead hair cells. It hydrates the hair and acts as a conditioner.

Now Let's Address a Few Issues

1. Why do we have to massage?

Massage functions as an activator. The benefits of all of these components, when applied to the hair, are activated during the massage.

A. It lets the head muscles to relax and soften so that the components can be absorbed by the scalp optimally.

B. Allows the goods to reach every area of the head.

C. It improves blood circulation, which increases hair follicles and cell absorption of the substance, resulting in greater hair quality over time.

D. Massage in circles, don't use fingernails.

You penetrate all the effects of these products. Which means that these products are used to their maximum potential.

Search these points and use them during a massage. These massages are known as Champi. For massaging, you can have someone else do it for you. My mother is my hair masseuse in this case.

1. Adhipati

2. Simantaka

3. Krikatika

4. Vindhuram

5. Shankha

6. Yin Tang

7. Tai Yang.

2. Why Do We Leave Them For a Long Time in Our Hair?

We leave these products in for a long time because, once activated after the massage, the hair requires time to absorb all of the goodness and allow the vitamins, proteins, amino acids, and other components to do their job of healing the hair. This will allow you to wash your hair faster and with better results. It's as if your money investments have been maximised because you've received all of the required products.

3. Do This For Even Better Results

A. Don't tie your hair. After the massage, the hair needs to stay relaxed.

By stretching the strands, you are promoting hair fall and breakage. I like to make a little bun and use a claw clip. You don't stretch the hair too much.

B. Comb your hair, no knots at all. Before applying the product, and after a massage before you gather it and put it in a claw clip

C. Use Micro Fibre Towels after washing to reduce friction on the scalp.

D. Comb your hair after it is damp. Not wet. Combing or brushing on wet hair promotes hair fall and breakage.

E. Let your hair air-dry. Using a blow dryer invites heat, which undermines your entire work to achieve nice hair.

It promotes dryness, which causes irritation, bacteria, illness outbreaks, and dandruff. It avoids scalp troubles and seals in all the benefits. You can usually use hair styling products after that, but not during this. This is a big no.

F. Wash your hair only twice a week.

G. Do not leave any product overnight in your hair.

H. Trim hair ends every 3-4 months. Avoids splits ends and better hair quality.

Hair Care Routine

Month 1

4 times Hair Mask. At least once a week. Olive or coconut oil, the next wash alternative.

Month 2

3 times hair mask. Once a week. Olive or coconut oil is in the next alternative wash

Month 3

4 times oiling. Every week, alternatively and twice a month, hair mask.

Conclusion

Trust me, you will never purchase products again. This does everything for your hair without the need for additional products, resulting in healthier, longer-lasting hair. This results in unique, stunning hair. You will never need a conditioner again after this.

Even if you use any hair product, such as a wax stick, hair spray, or styling products, your hair's health will not be harmed. This eventually results in a larger hair gene.

There are thousands of hair cures available, but these are my favourites that work 100% of the time. Use it and let me know if these suggestions worked for you.
