Fifth Harmony, or should we say, Fourth Harmony, has reunited and returned to music together after seven long years of separation. The four original members performed their 2015 hit song Worth It together on stage at a Nick Jonas concert on August 31st.

However, the reunion didn’t include the former girl group member Camila Cabello; it only included four out of the five original members, including Ally Brooke, Normani, Lauren Jauregui, and Dinah Jane. Cabello left the group and went solo in 2016, but even though she wasn’t present at the Nick Jonas concert, she sent her love through an Instagram comment with four hearts via a post made by the official Fifth Harmony account.

The post that was made by Fifth Harmony and had the Cabello comment has gotten more than 656k likes in its first two days and was the first Fifth Harmony Instagram post since May 18th, 2018. The post comes with a caption that states:

Where were you on August 31, 2025?

Who is Fifth Harmony?

Fifth Harmony is the iconic girl group that was formed in 2012 in Miami, Florida and consists of five members (four as of now). The five members include

• Normani
• Camila Cabello
• Ally Brooke
• Lauren Jauregui
• Dinah Jane

During the group’s time together, they have made the best hit songs that you listened to in your mother’s car back in 2016, such as Work, Worth It, I’m In Love With A Monster, That’s My Girl, etc. Their work has garnered three Guinness World Records, four Video Music Awards, and was even certified triple platinum by the RIAA due to their three singles: Boss, Worth It, and Sledgehammer. They also released three studio albums together but were somehow never nominated for a Grammy.

Why did Camila Cabello Leave in 2016?

Camila Cabello left the group in 2016 and unleashed a multitude of shock across the Fifth Harmony fan base. A reason that could justify her exit are:

• Passion for Songwriting: According to an episode of Call Her Daddy, she wanted to pursue a solo singing career and fulfill her passion for songwriting, and with that ambition, she didn’t feel like her being part of Fifth Harmony was aligned with her vision, which led her to depart from the group. To support this, Cabello said,

I can remember waking up on tour, and going to my hotel room at like 7 a.m. and going to my garage band and like writing songs, cause I didn't want to do it while everybody was there and I had such a passion that turned into writing. And at first I was like, 'Oh maybe I wanna write for other people.' But then it turned into like, 'No, actually I want to sing these songs by myself.

I started distancing myself from the group vision, and it felt like you know they were still really passionate and into that and so, I was just like, ‘I'm not happy here anymore, it doesn't feel aligned.

Ever since she left the group, she has made iconic songs that even hit a billion or more views on Spotify, such as, Señorita ft. Shawn Mendes, Havana ft. Young Thug, Never Be the Same, Bam Bam ft. Ed Sheeran, etc., proving her reason of leaving to be pretty favorable for her.

Why did the Rest of the Group Separate?

After Cabello’s departure, the group decided to take a similar route and separated in 2018 indefinitely until 2025. This hiatus was established because of the individual artists wanting to seek solo careers and their creative differences that led to them wanting to make their own projects. Many solo projects made by the four individual artists include

• Normani: Released her long-awaited solo album Dopamine on June 14th, 2024, and included big features such as Gunna, Cardi B, etc. She has also released Fair, Wild Side ft. Cardi B, Motivation, Love Lies, etc.
• Lauren Jauregui: Released albums named PRELUDE and In Between in 2021 and 2023, respectively. She has also released several singles, including Expectations, Lento, On Guard, Trust Issues, etc.
• Ally Brooke: Although she has not released any solo albums, her singles that include Perfect, Low Key, Like You Do, Under The Tree, etc., establish her reputation as a solo artist.
• Dinah Jane: Her album JUICE COUNTY: VOLUME 1, and singles such as Bottled Up, Falling in Love, Heard It All Before, etc., have all been significant work for Dinah Jane as a solo singer.

My Reaction

After seven years, they are finally back! I cannot believe that they not only reunited and brought the same energy they had back in the prime Fifth Harmony days, but they also performed every Gen Z and Millennial’s favorite song. Hopefully, they’re not going to go anywhere.
