Alright guys, it's time to take out the tissues! You heard the rumors, you wish they were a lie? Well we have got some bad news for you.

Yes, the rumors are absolutely true! Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, the iconic singer duo, officially broke up after two years of dating. The two posted a joint message on their Instagram stories the night of November 17th, 2021 saying, "Hey guys, we've decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever. We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward. -Camila and Shawn"

Despite the fact that the two seem to be on good terms, fans are still upset, tweeting statements like "2021 is the year of break ups." After their two years of dating, the couple has accumulated quite a large fan base and this surprising break up is shocking to fans.

Their friendship started back in 2014 at the Austin Mahone Tour. Cabello was quoted in an interview by Vmagazine saying, "I remember I wanted to hang out with you, but you were always on the tour bus, just learning guitar." Mendes responded with, "You were the only person that talked to me. Like, you were the only one of everybody on that tour who would say words to me."

Just a year later, the couple released a song, I Know What You Did Last Summer, which started the speculation about their relationship. The music video released shows Shawn and Camila intensely singing to each other. From this, fans immediately started shipping the two.

After this, their strong friendship between the two became clear to fans. They started posting selfies with each other, publically supporting each others' music, and more that suggested a bond between Mendes and Cabello.

After years of their friendship growing, Shawn and Camila began being seen more and more together, when, in 2019, fans realized that they were together. That same year, the duo came out with their most popular song together, Señorita, which has accumulated over 1.9 billion streams on Spotify and 1.3 billion views on Youtube.

Once the couple made it official, they have become very public, posting lots of fun pictures and videos together, and, of course, always supporting each others' music careers.
