As fall approaches, many students look forward to being on college campuses. While the first day of college is a clear picture of ambivalence, you don’t want to mess it up by not feeling the best about your outfit. It is the first factor that controls how you feel and how confident you are. This is enough for you to put those reading glasses on, and dive into this curation of the top trending OOTD (Outfit of the Day) looks for rocking the fall of your freshman year!
The Everyday Look
College comes in complimentary with a packed schedule, and not to mention many deadlines. While you work on the curriculum and navigate through the new life that has come down to you, you surely don’t want to spend too much of your energy just deciding what to wear! This is where a cool, yet creative everyday look comes into motion. There are certain basics you can play around with, and style new looks with. Listed for you, here are some staples you absolutely NEED to have in your wardrobe:
When it comes to experimenting with your looks, a white tee (mark my words, WHITE tee) is a surefire. It goes with almost every look, complimenting the shades in contrast. Flaunt it with mom jeans or even with a pair of denim flares; tuck them in or give it a chunky look by wearing an oversized, graphic one. Go around the campus nailing it off with white sneakers, and minimal accessories!
During fall, neither light nor warm clothes prove to be your best bid. The need is to wear something that gives you just enough warmth in the morning, while not making you regret the decision when wearing it before noon. Plaid jackets are your savior for sure. Throw them on a white turtleneck, pair them up with a contrasting hoodie or simply go with a tank top!
When it comes to sweaters, there are a lot of ways you can wear them. Whether it’s a warm or chilled day, a sweater dress will suffice your needs. I usually prefer pastel or brown shades, but you have a lot of space to go around and try new colors!
Pair it with knee-long boots, and you are all set to shine in the fall foliage with your go-to outfit! The top trends include the cropped cardigan, outshining any OOTD look when paired with flared jeans. It is as eternal as the moon, and stars, and builds up an agreeable look, outshining basic cardigans with great finesse.
While you definitely have to keep a sharp eye on choosing the right upper body apparel, you still can’t pass over the necessity of brushing up your lower body clothing on an equal footing. Flare and mom jeans are the need of the hour, upgrading even the boring looks. While the dimensions and detailed styling are up to you, I personally prefer a high-waist, and narrowing descends flared jeans with long-sleeved bodycon tops.
The Comfy Clan
A lot of girls have been living in the bubble of ‘Ideal Outfit’ for quite a long; this is just as true as Hogwarts — we want it to exist, but sadly, it’s utopic. Revealing a lot of skin is just another bubble that — as assumed by many — defines beauty. That being said, it doesn’t necessarily mean the end of the fashion world is here.
You can always wear apparels that not only give you that sleek look but also maintain your level of comfort! Topping this list is our all-time favorite: Sweatshirt! When in doubt, go with denim jeans, flat sneakers, and a solid sweatshirt, accessorized with a generous amount of jewelry. Hoodies are, yet another close variant you can group under the ‘comfy clothes’ club.
Dark Academia is Major
As the name suggests, dark academia does have a lot to do with dark shades — specifically transcending from nudes to brown pastels and undertone. To reiterate, creating a dark academia look is a cakewalk, but you have to watch out for the shades. If dark academia was a realm, turtlenecks would have ruled the empire!
You can wear these as undertoned nudes; white, black, or brown shades look good as well. For the perfect garb start with a black, turtle-neck bodycon top, camel brown plaid skirt, throw a plaid, light blazer, and rock it with a pair of raven-black mary janes. There you go, all set for fall!
Denim is not just a garb, it’s a statement you make about your style. From a denim dress to pants, you can never be at fault wearing them. An all-time favorite in denim is the denim jacket.
If you have the staples in your closet and want to revamp your boring basics, the denim jacket is your best bid! Wear it with belted trousers, stunning in a floral dress, pair with a tee, and finalize with white sneakers. Not to mention, denim jackets come in different colors.
So, it’s up to you to make a choice. For reference, here is a collage of some of the colors I love!
There you go, all done and dusted- it's a wrap for this article, but definitely not for your idyllic fashion! In fact, make this the beginning of revamping your basic wardrobe, and taking it to new heights, all this while not going overboard. Pump up for this fall, and start off college smart with these looks!
