9 Ways to Prioritize Self Growth and Improve Your Lifestyle

Mental Health & Self Love

March 26, 2022

Being productive seems like such a struggle, most of the time. Having to get up, get the motivation to actually do things, and then making sure that you do them correctly can be hard, but there are necessary things that we have to do in order to truly grow. Here are 9 ways to prioritize self-growth, while also becoming productive.

1. Create a Skincare Routine

Feeling the cool water on your skin in the early morning will definitely wake you up, but what about having a routine that will actually help you (and your skin) feel better? Creating a skincare routine can make you feel more organized and help you wake up with fresh, clean skin.

2. Clean out your social media

Have old photos of you on social media? Not a problem! But it has most likely been months, or even years, since you looked at your followers, who you're following, or cleaned out old messages. Doing this will clear storage on your phone, and will give you the feeling as if you have started a new account without losing memories.

3. Clean your room

Having a clean room will motivate you to finish schoolwork, such as that pesky project that has been put off for weeks. Clean rooms provide structure and are proven to lessen anxiety and stress. They help create a more organized atmosphere that is conducive to a relaxing space.

4. Start a bullet journal

It's never too late in the year to start a bullet journal, which is a great way to track work due soon, what mood you're in, and keep a to-do list! Bullet journals are an amazing way to stay organized and keep your life on track without feeling stressed about it. Having a bullet journal is one way to keep yourself on, or ahead, of schedule and still have room for things that you suddenly need to add-in.

5. Set boundaries

At number five, and probably the most important on this list, is setting boundaries. In order to properly prioritize self-growth, you need to set boundaries and focus on yourself. Boundaries help improve your mental health and show others that they can't rely on you for things such as answers to homework all the time.

6. Volunteer more

Volunteering is a great way to grow mentally, while also providing for others in need. Volunteering helps you appreciate what you have while giving you gratitude and respect for others. It makes you appreciate the little things in life that you have.

7. Finish School Work on time

Procrastinating on school work? Not the best way to keep yourself stress-free. Keeping up to date on schoolwork will create a level of organization along with reducing stress because you're always on-time with assignments and never have any late work.

8. Read a book every week

Reading a book can take you to another world, while also giving you the phone detox every day that you need. Reading books is also proven to reduce stress and increase memory. According to a study at the university of Sussex, reading relaxes muscles and increases blood flow to the brain.

9. Don't use your phone for an hour before bed

Frequent use of technology is shown to increase stress levels, and you will most likely end up comparing yourself to other people on social media if you use it constantly. Phones also distract you from doing valuable things, such as homework or spending time with your family.

Prioritizing your self-growth is the most important thing you should do in 2022, and is the key to improving mental and physical health. These nine steps are sure to help you become more organized, improve your mood, and help you become productive in the following months and years. Limiting screen time will help you improve your mental health and productivity, while the rest of these will also improve your motivation.
