Self-love is vital for everyone on earth. A person should love himself or herself first before loving others. However, most teenagers reject self-love.

Loving yourself is like a little battle between you and your mind. Your mind is everything for you, yet it is the most difficult thing to control. In fact, many people struggle with self-love because it can be challenging to practice.

“You can carry so much love in your heart. Give some to yourself!” As this quote mentioned by an unknown person suggests, loving yourself is not impossible. Despite whether you are one of those people who can already love yourself or not, in this article, I would like to provide you with 10 ways that you can do them easily in order to try to love yourself.

Practice gratitude everyday

You may or may not notice, but “Gratitude” is the thing that surrounds us. In all likelihood, there is no one who is remote from it. Gratitude is usually given by parents, teachers, friends, nature, and even yourself. You should appreciate everything you own, such as your appearance, your way of life, the peaceful weather, the optimum environment, and so on.

So, how shall we practice gratitude daily?

You can do several things to practice! As you know, morning is the best time of the day since you just woke up and your mind may be clear. When you practice gratitude, you should thank yourself first, followed by your surrounding area, and end up with the universe you are in!

Meditate regularly

Meditating is the best way to train your mind and focus power, which makes you a truly better version of yourself. Since you are sitting quietly and mindfully, you may find it boring and pointless sometimes. Whenever you feel so, you should keep in mind that boredom is peace.

You can find enjoyment in boredom. Once you get over that, you will find yourself feeling so much better than before.

Despite many types of meditation, the only one that I would recommend to everyone is breathing. To do that, you have to find a peaceful place where you can sit with no disturbances. Then, you close your eyes and focus on your breath: inhale and exhale.

You can also keep in mind your stomach, where you have to focus on the movements of inward or outward.

Read for pleasure

You may think reading is something everyone on earth would recommend, but this time, my suggestion is different and fun. How? Most people find reading difficult and dull because those people do not read for pleasure.

They may read scripture, which can make the reader feel bored quickly. So, try types of books like novels, non-fiction, and fan- fiction.

For example, novels like Wuthering Heights are good to read when you are bored. Moreover, stories like “The old man and the sea”, are excellent choices when you don’t feel like reading.

Practice positive affirmation

Our minds are much more complicated than we know. Scientists have even discovered that the mind has a connection with the waves in the universe. So, by practicing positive affirmation, you will gain positive energy that can lead you to extremely excellent places.

So, how can we practice?

Step 1: Think of the affirmations that you like to do!

You have to choose the affirmation that you like to do. It can be your goals or challenges. You have to think of 1-2 short sentences out of it. For example “I am capable of studying 8 hours.” or “I am the best student in my class.”

Step 2: Write them down!

After you choose your affirmations, you have to write them down in your notebook. And carry it wherever you go.

Step 3: Repeat them daily!

Once you are done choosing and writing your affirmations down, you have to make sure affirming daily is your habit. To do so, you should decide when you want to do it, for example, in the morning when you just wake up, in the afternoon, when you go to class or at night, before you doze off. One thing to note down is when you are affirming, you have to visualize by seeing yourself you already got the things you want.

Spend quality time with loved ones

Spending time with loved ones like parents, friends, and relatives may be the best thing to do in your leisure time. Making memories, baking, playing board games, and discussing interesting facts are activities that are the greatest of all time that you should try. By doing so, you will find yourself becoming closer to your loved ones and your relationships will be stronger.

Set realistic goals

Setting goals and planning are part of the common daily routine that is done by most individuals. Ask yourself clearly about the activities that you want to do and try time management for them. By doing so, you will have a list of realistic goals that are easy to achieve.

I would like to suggest a strategy: Choose your favourite notebook and write down the daily goals that you want to accomplish. Then, you actually do what you’ve planned.

Create a vision board

I believe you may be familiar with the vision board. It is the board of pictures that you imagine yourself and try to achieve all of them. Every single person who is trying to be the best version of themselves makes it. If you haven’t created one, I suggest you give it a try, since it is the best thing that motivates you.

To fulfill it, my advice is the following:

Step 1: Know what your goal is.

Give yourself plenty of time to think about what you actually want to be. It can either be your life long goal, like becoming a doctor, engineer, and lawyer or it can be your midterm goal, like mastering a particular skill.

Step 2: Photographs

In this step, you have to find the pictures regarding your goals. You can either take your original photos or find them online. Websites like Pinterest, Pexels and Pixabay are the ideal places where you may find your photographs.

Step 3: Do it!

Once you have all of the materials, you have to start doing it. You can do it on online websites like Canva or physically on papers with your printed pictures. Additionally, you can add your favourite quotes and many more.

Let go of past mistakes

Mistakes are the things that help us improve. We all make mistakes, and that is totally fine. What is not fine is that you do not let it go and think of it as an embarrassment.

Actually, mistakes are made to learn from them, not suffer for them. So, if you find yourself stuck in the bog of mistakes, just let it go, and you will be fine. One activity that is the best to eliminate past mistakes is meditation.

Invest in personal growth

The best investment in the world is to invest in yourself. Invest in your growth, studies, mental health, physical health, and mind. It can be hard sometimes for people since it takes so much time.

Even though the results may not be immediate, every small step you take brings you closer to your goals. Whether you practice gratitude, plan and invest yourself well, it is like a small step to personal development.

Focus on the present moment

In summary, there are lots of ways that you can start loving ourself more deeply. However, I have provided the 10 best ways that you can practice self-love. By practicing the tips I mentioned, I believe your favorite person will be no one else but yourself.
