No filler introduction because I know you're reading this while being eager to wash your hair.
1. Detangle Before Wash

Detangling your hair a day or an hour before wash day can make your washing session easy and fast. Detangling before and after washing can prevent breakages, split ends, and hair loss. Not only that, but it can also separate tangled hair strands to ensure each strand gets washed and cleaned. I recommend using a water spray, sectioning the hair into small parts, and using a wide-tooth comb.
2. Choosing the Right Shampoo

You can't use shampoos for oily hair if you don't have oily hair. That's a fact. When shopping and choosing shampoos on Amazon or Sephora, you must always choose the shampoo that is designated for your hair situation. For example, if you have curly hair, choose a shampoo that is soft on curly hair; if you have 4C hair, choose a shampoo that takes good care of your hair.
You can choose any shampoo you want but I recommend these:
- For curly hair: SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Shampoo
- For oily hair: Aveeno Apple Cider Vinegar Clarifying Shampoo
- For itchy hair with dandruff: Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo with 1% Ketoconazole
3. Shampoo the Hair Two Times

Step into the shower and get those shampoo bottles ready.
- Rinse your hair with lukewarm water for 30 seconds and wait for 10 seconds.
- Place the shampoo on the hair.
- Use a hair massager or fingertips to clean and massage hair with shampoo for 2-5 minutes.
- Leave the shampoo on the hair for a minute and a half.
- Rinse the shampoo out using lukewarm water.
- Repeat the same steps again, but for the second time, shampoo hair and leave the product for 2-3 minutes.
4. Condition the Hair Ends

Get the conditioner bottles ready.
- Make sure your hair is 100% clean and free of leftover shampoo.
- Rinse hair with lukewarm water for 10 seconds.
- If you have a leave-in conditioner, do not apply it until you leave the shower first.
- If you have a regular conditioner, apply it onto the hair ends and massage it on hair for 1-2 minutes.
- Leave it in the hair for 1 minute.
- Rinse out the conditioner with lukewarm water. Only complete these steps ONCE.
- Using leave-in conditioner, apply it onto the hair ends.
- Comb hair using wide-tooth comb.
- Leave it in the hair ends for bedtime and rinse it out in the morning.
5. Dry the Hair

After rinsing out the shampoo and conditioner, do these easy steps:
- Use hair dryer at a cool or warm setting for 5-10 minutes or until the hair is completely dry.
- Change pillowcases to protect hair from past dirt.
- Put on a bonnet or other caps to keep hair soft and clean.
These steps are key for having healthy hair and beautiful-smelling pillowcases for days. However, please check what your hair type is before using shampoo. The recommended shampoos for your hair type are at point 2. Have a nice wash day!
