Why Is Everyone Dancing to “Soda Pop” from K-Pop Demon Hunters?
The "Soda Pop" dance has been going absolutely viral lately, with everyone on TikTok trying it out. In this article, let’s talk about where the dance came from and how it got trending!
First up: K-Pop Demon Hunters still hasn’t stopped breaking records, even after more than one month since its release (June 20, 2025). With groundbreaking achievements in the music industry, there is hardly anyone left who hasn’t heard at least one of their songs—either from Saja Boys or HUNTR/X.
With "Golden" topping the Billboard Global 200 charts for more than four weeks, the other songs are following close: No. 5 is "Soda Pop", No. 6 is "Your Idol", No. 7 "How It’s Done", etc.
Yet, in terms of virality, "Soda Pop" seems to be leading the race, surpassing even "Your Idol" in popularity… and dance replays! So, why are TikTok and Instagram full of short videos of people dancing to the upbeat melody of "Soda Pop?" How did we get to this phenomenon—and has it been done before?

First of all: the legends themselves—The Saja Boys! This boy band was created by the demon Jinu as part of a plan to steal fans from HUNTR/X and offer their souls to the demon king, Gwi-Ma. The group consists of Mystery, Abby, Baby Saja, Romance, and of course, Jinu himself.
According to the film’s creators, they’re inspired by real-life K-pop legends like BTS, Stray Kids, ATEEZ, BIGBANG, MONSTA X, and TXT. These groups are known for balancing darker, edgy aesthetics with bright, catchy bangers. The Saja Boys are no exception.

The Saja Boys’ concept is a direct critique of the idol obsession culture—showcasing how far “stanning” can go when it’s literally soul-consuming (Join the Pride, anyone?).
Most fans think it’s just another fun K-pop bop… but "Soda Pop" is low-key unhinged—and I love it! "Soda Pop" is their debut song, which, in the movie (and also real life), topped the charts and even got them an award at the Idol Awards!
However, what most fans miss is the true meaning behind the song. You see, let’s not forget that Saja Boys’ mission was to shatter the Honmoon and bring as many human souls back to Gwi-Ma. Therefore, it’s not wrong to say that their main goal is… eating. Or drinking… Soda Pop! That’s right, the song is about eating (drinking) your soul just like a human would do with a soda pop! (In a sexy way, of course.)
Here’s a quick look at the lyrics:
"Take a big bite, want another bite, yeah / When you're in my arms, I hold you so tight (So tight)... / I waited so long for a taste of soda."
The metaphor? You're the drink. They're thirsty. Win-Win.

The Beat: Have We Heard It?
"Soda Pop" is so TXT-coded! It sounds like what would happen if "Drama", "Blue Hour", and The Boyz’s "Lip Gloss" had a sparkling, demon-possessed baby. Do you see it?
The demons “decide to masquerade as a K-pop boy group, and just be the most appealing, innocent, charming people that have ever been seen performing a K-pop song,” Eisendrath explains in the same interview with Netflix — but the lyrics hint at the Saja Boys’ sinister intent.
The production is bubbly and bright—chirpy melodies, fizzy bass lines, smooth falsettos—but underneath it all? It’s giving sweet danger and all-consuming desire. And, okay, a little bit of Blurred Lines (Robin Thicke flashbacks, anyone?).
You also hear echoes of:
- ASTRO’s "Candy Sugar Pop"
- BTS’s "The Planet"
- TXT’s "Blue Hour" and "Drama"
Basically, it’s a glitter bomb with claws. So Kpop coded!
The choreography is where "Soda Pop" levels up. The moves are simple, sharp, and made to be recreated, not just admired. It’s become a growing trend in K-pop choreography: make it TikTok-friendly. Fans love learning the chorus and making it their own, and that’s exactly what "Soda Pop" delivers—especially the three iconic beats at the end of the first stanza (you know the part 👀).
Even idols and producers have praised the choreo for being accessible, catchy, and downright addictive.
So, What’s the Secret Sauce?
Simple: catchy beat + easy-to-learn dance + slightly unhinged lyrics = viral gold. Soda Pop is the full package, and fans (both in the movie and real-life humans) are LOVING it!
