"My little soda pop."

You've probably heard that line over and over again while you're scrolling—I certainly have. The new sensation, the movie KPop Demon Hunters has not only gained millions of views and rejuvenated the animation style we were all missing, it's smashed global charts.

With multiple songs on Spotify charts—like the Top 50 Global, Viral 50 Global, and Teen Beats—and Billboard's Hot 100 and Top Soundtracks shortly after its release, the movie and soundtrack has invaded our feeds and trends. Dancing along, Kpop artists and influencers have joined the trends.

Although this soundtrack is all over my feed, is the hype worth it? Are these songs truly as good as people say? Well, I'll give you my honest reviews, and I'll let you decide!

"How It's Done" by HUNTR/X

The opener of the movie, and man, they did this RIGHT.

The backtrack and the sassy, strong vocals?? This is my piece of cake. It's giving baddie, confident, and bold, especially with the dynamic rap break. The punch in vocal delivery is felt when I start saying "how it's done, done, done" without warning in the middle of the day.

And the ending? The powerful high notes and chant-like vocals make me feel like I'm one of them. You'll probably find me mumbling, "run, run, we run the town, whole world playin' our sound, turnin' up it's goin' down." Don't even get me started on the "heels, nails, blade, mascara," part!

I give this a solid 8.5/10!

"Golden" by HUNTR/X

Is it just me, or do you feel golden as well?

When I first listened to this, I thought of "I AM" by IVE. This song is radiant and infectious, rising to the top in various charts across the world, for good reason. The chorus is already top tier, and the clean vocals add a crispness to the song.

And those high notes in the chorus and post-chorus? Absolute powerhouses! The added growth and unity of HUNTR/X represented by this song? It's there.

However, trendy pop songs are hit-or-miss for me (and don't flame me in the comments for this rating), I would rate this a 6.5/10 in my taste and a 8.5/10 in musical technicality!

"Soda Pop" by the Saja Boys

This song was playing on my phone, and even my mom thought it was groovy!

Cutesy and flirty, this song has the classic fun, pop groove to it with sweet (and somewhat suggestive) lyrics. And the dance? It's totally got me unknowingly moving my shoulders whenever I listen to it!

To be honest, the pre-chorus and Baby Saja's smooth rap are my favorite parts. It reminds of popular BTS songs like "Dynamite" and "Butter" with its beat.

Like I mentioned previously, trendy pop songs are a hit-or-miss for me, but this song is actually fun to listen to! I would rate this song a 7/10!

"Takedown" by HUNTR/X

Somewhat similar to "How It's Done" with its fierce vocals, "Takedown" has amazing ad-libs and powerful verses; I've found myself whispering, "It's a takedown (oh, da-da-da, down, yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah, yeah)."

When I was thinking of what to say for this song, I was honestly stuck for a while. It's a good song, but it's in the shadows compared to most of the other songs. It showcases a vulnerable moment for Rumi, illustrating her fears and insecurities. I'm more pulled into the lyrics and their meanings than any other component of this!

I rate this a 7/10. I just think the other songs are more aligned my taste. There's also a version of "Takedown" sung by Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung of TWICE; click here to listen to it!

"Free" by Rumi (EJAE) and Jinu (Andrew Choi)

Emotional, passionate, and heartfelt—this is the ultimate ballad.

The gorgeous and intertwining voices of Rumi and Jinu seal the deal for this song. It's the duet everyone is crying for and hopelessly wishing comes back. The profound and moving lyrics? Maybe when I have my next love interest I'll be singing this song.

I feel like I don't need to say anything else. 9/10.

"Your Idol" by the Saja Boys

Demons singing about taking my soul? Uh, yes, please.

From the beginning adlibs to the enchanting chorus, this song is an absolute banger! And yes, this is discounting the group's physical appearance in this song (I'm looking at you).

Every second of this song is killer. I know I've stated that the choruses in the soundtrack are catchy and well-written, but this takes the spotlight (quite literally). From "you know I'm the only one who'll love your sins" to "can I get the mic a little higher?", this song accomplished what it was meant to do—pull me in.

And the lyrical contrast and double meanings in the original and final chorus? I'm obsessed; I give this a 9.5/10.

"What It Sounds Like" by HUNTR/X

The beautiful harmonies? The deep lyrics? The building on the raw vocals? This is it.

The emotional journey from Rumi and HUNTR/X as a whole is powerful, and this song serves the ending right. The vocals are heavenly, and I truly fell in love with them (even though I didn't expect to)! I've probably mentioned their vocals way too many times, but they're so good!

Who knew a movie could have fans wanting fictional characters to become real idols? I totally want more songs!

This song gave me goosebumps, and the held-out ending note is the cherry on top. This earns a 9.5/10 from me; it's honestly my favorite (for now).

Bonus Songs

Here are the songs and scores that were not sung by HUNTR/X or the Saja Boys! The whole soundtrack can be viewed on IMDb or Wikipedia, but I wanted to mention three specific songs in the soundtrack that I adore.

"Strategy" by TWICE

I've loved this song since it came out in 2024, and I'm happy they included it in the movie! A 10/10 from me!

"Jinu's Lament" by Jinu (Andrew Choi)

Although technically only a moment where Jinu briefly sings, I think this had major potential for a full song! I have an episode of this saved on Spotify so I can listen to it! 7.5/10!

"Score Suite" by Marcelo Zavros

I wish Spotify will upload the "Score Suite" with the vocals from the first generation of hunters, but all I can do is wait for now. The vocals have been added in on various YouTube channels, so here's a popular one! This score is a masterpiece, and it needs more recognition! This deserves a 9/10.

Final Thoughts

This soundtrack is not a lie: it's outstanding and phenomenal—basically revolutionary. The hype is real. If you haven't listened to the soundtrack, you need to, right now.
