High school provides students with a number of ways to get involved, from sports to clubs to school events. And for seniors, there's only one more sports season, one last debate championship, and one final homecoming dance.

The limited time seniors have left in high school often leads many to try out new things, from taking an AP class that piques their interest to joining a sport they've always wanted to play. Many high schoolers who've never attended a school dance or sporting event do so during senior year to ensure they graduate with no regrets of what they could've done.
Trying new things and getting involved on your campus is the perfect way to make the most of your high school experience, and why postpone that until senior year? Whether you join speech and debate or soccer, you could find a new hobby, make lifelong friends, or even discover a talent you never knew you had. And the earlier you start, the better you'll be by senior year.

Snap a Picture
From the first moments of senior sunrise to the final walk at graduation, senior year is a time for photos galore. With only one year of high school left, each milestone gains a new meaning. Thus, senior year provides the perfect opportunity to take as many photos as you can to remember those moments before they're left in the past.

But saving the memory with a quick picture is best done during all years of high school, as capturing photos lets you fondly look back on old times, seeing how you and your friends have grown over the four years. Personally, I find scrolling through my camera roll to be a great way to reminisce on the highlights of my high school experience, and having photos as documentation ensures that those best moments can be cherished forever.
Live in the Moment
Being in senior year comes with the constant reminder that high school doesn't last forever, encouraging you to make the most of each moment, soaking it all in before the moments turn into memories. Even routines as simple as eating lunch with your friends and going to practice every day gain a new meaning when you realize that the schedule you've grown so accustomed to won't stay the same for long.

But in reality, four years is not as long as it may seem; I still remember my first track meet as a freshman and my first AP class as a sophomore. So why not live in the moment sooner rather than later? As a senior, you only get one more homecoming dance, but as a freshman you have four left to enjoy, so why not make them all count?
My best advice for living in the moment is to keep your phone away. When you're recalling your favorite memories from high school, watching TikToks is unlikely to be at the top of that list. So get your friends to ditch their phones and take advantage of every moment, because life is meant to be lived, not scrolled on Instagram.
Time is Ticking
While special activities and traditions like senior sunrise and kid backpacks certainly contribute to making senior year fun, a lot of what makes the year exciting is the idea that you only have one year left and should make the most of it. As a freshman walking those halls, it feels like senior year is forever away. But the years fly by, and soon you'll be left with just one more year of school.

Simply put, time is limited, and senior year is when that fact is at the forefront of every student's mind. But there's no point in waiting until you're almost at the finish line to enjoy the race. So go out and make the most of the new year, because you aren't in high school forever.
