Summer allows you to eat a lot of ice cream…but it can cause brain freezing; the cozy atmosphere of fall lets you hang out with friends outside…but the yellow leaves end up covering your driveway and backyard; winter’s quiet snow helps you sleep in…but it keeps you from going on walks. Every time the seasons change, I remember why spring is my favorite. It’s the one season that never lets me down, and here’s why.

Designers and artists are working hard during winter, as there are numerous exciting drops and releases during spring. Every year, Apple announces its new iPad series and Mac model, typically at a major April event. The AirTag, released on April 30, 2021, has saved me from losing my keys and wallet countless times.
Spotify knows it’s spring better than I do. Every spring, I get to add so many more songs to my playlist. For example, I added “yes, and?” from Ariana Grande’s Eternal Sunshine on March 8, 2024, “Texas Hold ‘Em” from Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter on March, 29th, 2024, and “Abracadabra” from Lady Gaga’s Mayhem on March 7, 2025. Since Taylor Swift released her newest album The Tortured Poets Department on April 19, 2024, I can’t count how many nights I’ve just sat there getting emo, listening to “fortnight” at midnight.

Spring is Sports Season
When the temperature finally rises, we can head outside! On a spring afternoon, with the sun in your face and a warm breeze at your back, watching your friend play a JV tennis match can feel more exciting than the World Cup! On the baseball field behind you, the crack of the bat, the smell of the grass—it’s the heartbeat of spring.
As the swimmers prepare for their meets, the sun is shining and the water isn’t cold anymore. Sitting in a crew boat, the trees and grass on the river bank fill my eyes with green. It’s even better than the dazzling white of winter snow.
As the end of the season arrives, the big lacrosse game against your rival school on a sunny day allows you to yell across the field, telling your classmates what to do. As the ball goes into the goal, the whole class rises, claps, and cheers, building a sense of community that really blooms in the welcoming spring weather.

Spring Is the Academic Plot Twist Season
Spring is the last semester of the year, and the final grades on your report card are soon going to your parents. It’s a good time to sit on a park bench under a tree, read a book, and improve the GPA that may have dropped during the year. Remember that Apple typically releases new products in the spring? Use those new products to boost your academic performance! (Not an ad for Apple, just a suggestion.)
Regardless of who holds the leadership position, the seniors are finally going to leave the school. You, my friend, can realize that you are running for student government next year! Opening the syllabus for next year’s math class might also be a good choice to set yourself up for an A+. Whatever grade you are in, this is a golden chance to turn the steering wheel and head to success.
Spring Is the Start of a New Page
For me, as the school year comes to an end, I always start to think about what kind of person I will be and who I will be friends with next year. I am moving past the mistakes I made over the years and the embarrassing things I’d prefer not to recall. Saying goodbye to my friends who are heading to the next stage of their lives was hard, but it taught me how to let go.
For the seniors, they are deciding which university or college they will attend next year. This will be where most of them make career decisions and prepare for going into society. That sense of direction and new momentum is exactly what makes spring so powerful. It’s not just the weather changing—it’s about people changing, and stepping forward with new hopes and dreams.
