In the realm of pop music, fresh talent frequently brings with it the excitement of innovative sounds and unexplored artistic avenues. Enter Kelly and Kat, a dynamic sister duo poised to carve their own path in the music industry. With their enchanting harmonies, thought-provoking lyrics, and distinctive musical vision, Kelly and Kat have the potential to be the next big stars!
Kelly & Kat is a sister duo from New York who released a single this summer. Within their career, they won a Disney contest in 2014, had a commercial aired during the American Music Awards, worked with Adrian Young, the drummer from No Doubt, and got signed to a publishing deal in 2020. They reconnected with their old producer, Eren Cannata, to create their latest project, "Stardust," which was released on May 26th.

Their Latest Single 'Stardust'
The newest addition to their discography, Stardust, was released in the early summer as a single for Kelly and Kat's EP. They wrote Stardust after one of them had a run into an ex and couldn't stop thinking about them. "The Stardust, to us, represents a higher place you hold someone in. But the more you get hit with the reality of who they actually are, the more it can bring them into the darkness and finally take them off the pedestal." It's a perfect bop for reminiscing about your ex and thinking about all the mistakes you both made.
In terms of sound, all of the songs on the EP have a dreamy quality about them. Starting with 'Stardust,' where the dreamy narrative is front and center in the vocal arrangements: "We thought 'Stardust' was a great song to kick off the trio since those themes are most prominent there."
Kelly and Kat would have to say that hearing Stardust for the first time was their favorite memory from creating the EP. Due to the fact that it was the first song from the EP that they had recorded, it was easy to know it would be the first song on the EP itself. "There was something so magical about hearing it all together for the first time," they explain.
About Their First EP
"These songs revolve around experiences of heartbreak we had. Since we recorded them back in 2020, they have become so symbolic of self-love, inner growth, and healing that has happened as well." they state, "We hope all of those emotions, especially those of new beginnings, touch everyone who listens to these songs." It is difficult to pick just one song from the EP that was their favorite. To them, all three of the songs have held such deep, separate meanings and have been synonymous with their growth as individuals and as artists.
Their creative process with Eren Cannata assisted in creating those emotions through the EP: "Our producer, Eren Cannata, helped push our writing and vocal skills for these songs." It was an amazing experience for them, and they're excited to share it with their fans. Like many artists, being able to take their experiences and turn them into extraordinary songs was extremely therapeutic. They are also the first songs that Kat plays on, so listen to that guitar! With production, fans can expect lots of layered harmonies and bigger vocals: "Our writing style has matured a lot over the years and we think these songs reflect that."
Their Music Journey
With being a duo comes a benefit, being that they have two experiences to go off of and synthesize. "Our bond as sisters strengthens our writing process because you've got both people blended into one song, which creates a very dynamic story in our songwriting." they observe, "We are both constantly pushing each other vocally and in our writing to stretch our skills and find what works best for each song that we write." As sisters, they are able to communicate freely with one another, and that strengthens both their relationship and their songwriting.
There are many artists who have influenced them as performers. These include singers and writers such as Kehlani, Ariana Grande, Cody Simpson, Demi Lovato, and John Mayer. Their long-term musical goal is to tour one day and be able to perform and connect with their fans nationally and globally. They are extremely excited about releasing their EP and are looking forward to their musical journey together!

Kelly: I would love a career in the performing arts.
Kat: A performer or a songwriter!
Dream collaboration?
Kelly: Definitely Ariana Grande or Kehlani. I love their vocals and writing.
Kat: Demi Lovato. She’s been my favorite singer since her Disney days.
Dream travel destination?
Kelly: Albania, we’re Albanian, and I’ve always wanted to visit.
Kat: Switzerland!

Kelly: Stardust: “Far away in a galaxy, no matter what, you never leave, caught in my mentality…”
Kat: Stardust: “If I had a different brain, I’d think about you anyway.”
Favourite go-to meal?
Kelly: Penne alla vodka.
Kat: Cauliflower pizza!
Top three favourite songs overall?
Kelly: It is so hard to pick! Right now, I have been listening to a lot of SZA, Summer Walker, Fleetwood Mac and Sleepy Hallow.
Kat: Anything Demi Lovato, it’s hard to pick my top favorites!
Something you never leave the house without?
Kelly: Lipgloss and my Stanley Cup!
Kat: My digital camera.
Your hobbies aside from music?
Kelly: I love being active and going to the gym. I just got back into yoga again, and I started pilates.
Kat: I love crocheting and baking.
What type of dog do you think you are most like- personality wise?
Kelly: Pomeranian!
Kat: A pug!
Best piece of advice you've received as a musician?
Kelly: To always stay true to yourself because your magic is just being you.
Kat: Always trust your instincts and believe in yourself.
