Theory #1: Jinu’s Little Sister Became One of the OG Demon Hunters

This theory is both heartbreaking and powerful. Remember the little girl in the flashback, Jinu’s younger sister who was left behind when he joined the palace and got pulled into the demon world? Fans believe she doesn’t just grow up.. she becomes one of the original demon hunters.

The timeline checks out, and it would explain why the OG demon hunters always felt oddly connected to the new generation. Some think she dedicated her entire life to fighting demons after losing her brother and became a legend in the process. Imagine Rumi finding this out and realizing the legacy she’s stepping into… it would break us all.

Theory #2: Jinu is Still Alive

Many fans believe Jinu (voiced by Ahn-Hyo Seop) and his soul wasn’t destroyed at all but actually merged with Rumi in that final, heart-wrenching moment since he’s technically part-demon and demons don’t just die like humans do. Instead of being eaten or erased, his essence is believed to be living inside Rumi, almost like a second heartbeat or hidden power source waiting for the right moment to awaken.

Because he willingly gave his soul to her, Rumi basically became a living vessel, a protective shrine keeping him safe. This sets up the possibility that Jinu could one day come back in his demon form through her.

Theory #3: Mystery is Also Alive

Fans are totally convinced that Mystery isn’t actually dead, he’s alive and lurking in the shadows waiting for his big comeback. Even though it looked like he vanished before Zoey slashed him, sharp-eyed viewers noticed he dissolved into smoke rather than being truly destroyed, which usually means a demon has just retreated to recover, not died. Either way, one thing is certain: MYSTERY.

IS. ALIVE. And he’s probably going to make the next chapter even crazier than we can imagine.

Theory #4: Who is Rumi’s Demon Dad?

Another mind-blowing theory is that Gwi-Ma isn’t actually Rumi’s father but her grandfather. Fans think Gwi-Ma’s son fell in love with Rumi’s mom, wanted to escape the demon world, and died protecting them. This would explain Rumi’s unique powers and why Gwi-Ma seemed so obsessed with her, almost as if she were his chosen heir.

It also makes sense why Celine wasn’t mad that Rumi’s mom loved a demon. She probably knew he was different from Gwi-Ma and actually tried to protect humans. This twist would turn Rumi’s demon side into a symbol of love and rebellion instead of pure evil and set up a wild sequel where she has to face her twisted demon family legacy.

Theory #5: Mira Has a Secret Demon Past.

Okay, this one might sound wild at first, but hear the fans out. Some eagle-eyed fans noticed weird old demon-like symbols in Mira’s accessories and some of her solo dance cuts. Could Mira secretly have demon blood too, or maybe her family has a long history of guarding demon secrets?

It would explain why she’s always so protective of Rumi, maybe she’s known more than she let on this whole time. Imagine the emotional meltdown if Mira’s “perfect leader” image cracked open to reveal a dark family legacy.

Theory #6: Honmoon ≠ Gold.

One detail that’s driving fans wild is that Honmoon never turns gold. Throughout the movie, they hinted that if the Honmoon ever turned gold, it would mean true balance and perfect harmony between the human and demon worlds, the ultimate sign that everything was finally safe. But even after Rumi’s emotional song, Gwi-Ma’s defeat, and the group’s reunion, the Honmoon never turns gold.

Fans think this means the barrier is still unstable, the world isn’t fully healed, or Rumi hasn’t completely accepted or unlocked her real power yet. Honmoon ≠ gold basically screams that the story isn’t over and that there’s still more danger, growth, and drama waiting in a possible sequel.

Theory #7: Tiger & Crow Sitting On Top of 'Comeback' Sign

This one had fans losing their minds. At the very end, there’s a blink-and-you-miss-it shot of a tiger and a crow perched on top of a glowing 'COMEBACK' sign. Symbolism? 100%.

Tigers often represent strength and rebirth, while crows are tied to death, mystery, and the supernatural. The combo? A promise. Many believe it hints at a dark resurrection, either of Jinu, Mystery, or maybe something even bigger brewing. The message is clear: someone or something is coming back. And it’s not going to be quiet about it.

At the end of the day, these wild theories show how deep we’re all in, even seven years later. Let’s be real, half of us are just here for Jinu’s insane visuals and that heart-melting smile. People are still making edits at 3 a.m., fighting over how the Honmoon never turned gold, and crying over his sacrifice like it dropped yesterday.

We don’t want this story to end, we want more drama, more chaos, and a million more reasons to love Jinu even more. Until that sequel finally drops, we’ll all be here spiraling together.
