Surviving Summer (2022)

What is summer show without surfing? Well this show has that. Along with shocking confessions, tragic breakups, long-lasting friends, and a summer to remember, the show follows our protagonist, Summer, who was expelled from her school in the United States as punishment for her actions.

Her mother sends her to Australia for the summer, where, to say the least, there are many things going on. Now, I won't spoil anything more and let you all form your own speculations about the show. You can find it on Netflix.

The Summer I Turned Pretty (2022)

I am fairly sure I almost everybody was watched this but in case you have not: watch it. It is the classic show to start your summer the right way. Though there were moments in this show that make me cry (Team Belly does not deserve any of them).

To focus on the actual show and not my biased opinion, we have Isabel Colkin, otherwise known as “Belly.” As she turns sixteen, she spends the summers with her family and her mother's best friend’s two sons, Conrad and Jeremiah. Belly has always had a crush on Conrad, and this summer, he and Jeremiah begin to see her differently, leading to a love triangle. Catches your attention? You can find it on Prime Video.

Mamma Mia (2008)

If not interested in the others, this classic will surely catch your attention. However most people do not watch Mamma Mia, the second movie, which I believe is of higher quality than the first. The relationship between the characters, romance, the mom-daughter duo, songs, and dances make it so memorable. You can find on Prime Video, which is where I watched it.

Parent Trap (1998)

Parent Trap is a Disney film about identical twins, Hallie and Annie, who are separated at birth due to their parents' divorce. This movie reminds me of my childhood summers, so this show always makes me smile. There is no complexity but rather a basic idea of a plot, which I find to be the perfect movie to see when you want to be lost in the story without the complex ideas. You can find it on Disney+,

Titanic (1997)

Okay, we can’t have a summer movie list without Titanic, right? It’s the perfect combination of romance and drama. You’ve got Jack and Rose, a love story that’s still impossible not to get invested in, even if you know what’s coming.

I mean, that scene if you know the one is unforgettable. It's the kind of movie that makes you cry, laugh, and question why you’re still watching after an hour, but you’re so hooked you can’t help it. Whether it’s your first time or your tenth, Titanic is one of those films that always hits hard and makes you want to tell everyone around you about it for days after. You can find it on Disney+ and Netflix.

Anne With An E (2017)

Anne With An E is a comfort show. Anne’s chaotic energy, big imagination, and love for the outdoors pulls you in. The town, the friendships, and the slow pace all go together nicely.

And let’s be honest, Gilbert Blythe? All that needs to be said. I didn’t think I’d get so attached to this show but now I recommend it to everyone. You can find it on Netflix.

What’s Your Summer Show?

No matter how you are feeling there’s always a perfect show to match your mood. From surfing drama in Surviving Summer to the sweet love triangle in The Summer I Turned Pretty, and the nostalgia of Parent Trap, there’s something for everyone. If you're craving a little sing-along action, Mamma Mia will have you dancing around the house (no judgment here). So go ahead, get comfy, grab some snacks, and let the summer binge-watch marathon begin.
