Taking a Break

First of all, Olivia herself has said she’s planning to take a break after her Guts Tour wraps up in July 2025. I mean, as she should. After the whirlwind of two albums and countless performances, our queen deserves a break.

But I don’t think that means she’s stepping away from music altogether. In fact, Olivia described writing songs as a form of therapy, something she does almost daily — with or without a studio in sight.

She has said that for her songwriting is a way to untangle feelings and make sense of the world. For her, music isn’t just a job, but rather a passion that flows in the background of her life.

Songs In the Vault

A lot of artists (for example, Dua Lipa) write more than 50 songs for each era, but unfortunately, most of them don't make it to the final album. Olivia reportedly has about 25 unreleased songs from her GUTS sessions. That’s right — a whole vault of tracks that one day, hopefully, will be heard by us on future albums.

Vibe shift

Olivia’s first two albums, SOUR and GUTS, had heartbreak as their backbone. Songs about feeling not good enough, navigating the tricky waters of fame, and the raw sting of young love gone wrong. But Olivia is at a different stage in her life.

She’s been in a relationship with British actor Louis Partridge since late 2023, and maybe this new love could inspire her next set of songs. For the first time, Olivia officially released a love song, "So American", showing us her softer, more hopeful side- the one we have not seen before.

Also, her wardrobe might be giving us more clues about the theme of the album. Gone are the purple hues that dominated the SOUR and GUTS eras; she’s been rocking red lately. Red, a colour universally linked to love and passion, shows up more and more in her outfits, in recent performances and in the GUTS Spilled album visuals too.

Is this a subtle way of saying: “Hey, I’m ready to write about something different now”? In my opinion, she’s signalling that her next album might explore new emotional territory.

What Will OR3 Be Called?

Ever since Sour came out, Olivia fans have been making up conspiracy theories about the next album's titles. For the third album, the frontrunner title is Luck. Why?

Olivia has been spotted sporting polka dots—a symbol of prosperity in Filipino culture—and using ladybird emojis, another sign of good luck, especially on social media. Plus, she told the world on her birthday, “I feel like the luckiest girl alive!!” Could it be more than just a coincidence?

Other suggestions have popped up: Sweet was a favourite theory title for a while, contrasting her debut album Sour, and playing off her budding romance and the sweetness of new love. However, some fans point out that it doesn’t fit Olivia’s trend of four-letter album titles. Another contender is Burn, tying into the fiery red tones she’s been using and the flames that appeared in her music videos and tour.

Olivia herself has hinted at the four-letter theme, joking on Jimmy Kimmel Live! About her producer Dan Nigro’s question at the end of her song Teenage Dream:

“What should the next four-letter album title be? FART?”

Beneath the humour, it’s clear Olivia is thinking about these details, even if she’s keeping us guessing.

When Can We Expect It?

If history is any guide, Olivia tends to release albums every two years. SOUR came out in 2021, and GUTS in 2023, so fans are holding out hope for a mid-2025 release. Yet, Olivia recently shared photos from travels, captioned “everywhere but that [censored] studio,” sparking debate: Is she really off the music grid, or is the album fully done?

Artists often surprise us with spontaneous releases, so don’t count out a late 2025 or early 2026 drop.

What Might the Music Sound Like?

Honestly, this is what I am most curious about. Olivia has evolved rapidly, and her music has reflected that. From the angsty, confessional tone of SOUR to the more mature, fame-reflective GUTS, it seems only natural that OR3 will show another side of her artistry.

Will it be filled with love songs, a fresh, hopeful vibe, or something else entirely? Olivia has always been a versatile artist for me. She is unafraid to bare her vulnerabilities, and that's why teens adore her. Perhaps the next album will show us the other side of growth—the messy, beautiful journey of finding love, self-acceptance, and maybe even luck.
