9 Instagram Accounts to Make Your Feed a Nicer Place

Personal Growth

January 25, 2022

Friend of Foe? Well, when it comes to social media, I'd argue that we often find it toxic and hurtful, instead of a safe space where we can connect with our friends. However, I'm not saying get rid of all your social media, rather I think there's a better way to use social media. Below I get into a list of 9 of my favorite Instagram accounts which provide me with smiles, and make my Instagram feed a very positive place.

1) Dinos and Comics

First up is Dinos and Comics. Here we have an adorable Instagram composed of sweet, little dinosaurs and their friends who are going through everyday problems in a hilarious, relatable way. Every comic just makes you feel-good, and every situation our little Dino friends face is super relatable.

They will make you giggle, laugh, and say, "Yeah, I've been there before". It's just a good-natured Instagram that has a very comical perspective on life which can help you deal with the harshness of the everyday.

2)Good Good Good co

Next, we have an Instagram literally dedicated to highlighting every good thing that humanity does. They combat all the harsh realities with posts that a) show there's hope for humanity, and b) remind us of the good in the world. I think this is very important because it can be easy to forget there are still good things in the world to combat the bad.

All of their posts also explain what is happening, and how it's helping people around the globe. It's a really sweet way to brighten your day by seeing the good things that people do for each other.

3)Planet Prudence

I LOVE Planet Prudence. Here we have a super cool illustrator who provides sweet, uplifting posts/illustrations that promote body positivity 1000000%. This instagram account fills me with literal glee because it also addresses "taboo" topics like menstruation in a real and honest way.

Planet Prudence also encourages me and all its followers to accept their bodies 110%, while acknowledging that it's a difficult journey and it won't happen overnight. If you want pictures of gorgeous illustrations telling you that you're beautiful no matter what, you NEED to follow Planet Prudence now.

4)Notebook Therapy

For anyone who finds gorgeous journaling videos relaxing, Notebook Therapy is for you. Watching the journaling videos, for me, is super calming and brings indescribable happiness because it's so satisfying and cool. Also, for anyone who is interested in journaling or looking for new ways to journal, this instagram is for you.

It also inspires me because it is a simple, easy way to detach from the seriousness of school and responsibilities. So I would definitely recommend Notebook Therapy because they will make your feed so gorgeous, fun, and chill.

5)Self Esteem Quotes

Literally a page dedicated to reminding you that you're loved. Self Esteem Quotes posts daily positive affirmations which guarantees that when you open your feed, you'll be greeted with love and validation. I would recommend this to anyone who's working on their self-love journey, and feel like they could use a reminder that they are amazing.

This is because you are amazing and you deserve to not only know that, but to embrace it. This instagram helps you do that with a range of quotes from self-care to mental health, so they have a positive affirmation for everyone.

6)Tasty Japan

Tasty Japan is my personal favorite, but they do have others like Proper Tasty, Buzzfeed Tasty, etc. This is a recommendation for my food lovers that appreciate a good food video. I personally love to eat, and this account always makes me really happy because I love watching them make new desserts and dinners which look delicious.

Of course, I have the bad habit of watching it when I'm hungry which only makes me want to food more. This is another account too that disconnects from, as I call it, the everyday because it introduces me to new recipes, and it's just really fun to watch.

7)Marcela Ilustra

Another really beautiful account that normalizes things like acne and body hair, but also things like mental illness which aren't always talked about. Marcela is a really incredible Brazilian illustrator who brings such a positive twist to things we're told are taboo or weird. I personally love the openness of her Instagram, and the positivity it radiates.

She also embraces body positivity, which is really nice, and creates posts that make you feel like you're not alone. Another account I would definitely recommend if you're learning to love yourself, and learning to appreciate how awesome you are.

8)Human Positivity

A collection of tips and quotes that promote positivity. Similar to Self Esteem Quotes, Human Positivity has quotes that empower you, but they also have posts on activities and things you can do that can just add a little bit of sunshine to your day. I would definitely say this account and accounts like this help to make your feed very supportive and calming.

9)Joanna Konstantopoulou

I think I saved one of the best for last. Joanna is a health psychologist, and her instagram includes posts on how to cope with anxiety, burnout, and other things that we face on a daily basis. It's definitely an account that promotes openness about self-care and discussing what you need, which I believe is really important and a good message.

I would recommend checking out her instagram, and seeing how it makes you feel. My final Instagram account suggestion, and one I personally think has a really beautiful goal.

Of course, there are other Instagram accounts aside from these, and I encourage you to seek them out. However, a few other tips for making your Instagram a more positive place are: unfollowing toxic people; it will hurt initially, but in the long run it helps you feel better about yourself. Also, unfollow toxic accounts(not just people) that body shame or promote diet culture because there are better accounts that will say you're beautiful just the way you are.
