Throughout 2021, a handful of shows were postponed or delayed as a result of the pandemic. However, this year, more and more shows that fans have been waiting for are scheduled to arrive on Netflix. From the second season of Bridgerton to the second season of Love is Blind, with the new year will come a multitude of new seasons of beloved shows, as well as premiers. These five shows are ones you must watch in the coming months!
Never Have I Ever: Season 3
Never Have I Ever tells the story of Devi Vishwakumar, a teenager living in Sherman Oaks, California. Devi has been through a lot. In the pilot episode, viewers learn that Devi's father, Mohan, had a heart attack at Devi's orchestra recital and died soon after.
After her father's death, Devi's legs stop working due to the trauma she suffered. Now, as Devi goes into her sophomore year of high school, she is ready to live her life as a normal teenager, which entails her striving to up her popularity.
At the end of season 1, Devi is in a difficult situation. Two of her classmates are interested in her: Ben Gross and Paxton Hall-Yoshida. While Ben is a nerd like Devi and the two have a persistent academic rivalry, Paxton Hall-Yoshida, a high school jock who everyone wants to be like, represents everything Devi feels that she has missed out on so far in high school.
Of course, the ending of season 2 is very similar. The love triangle is still unresolved between Devi, Ben, and Paxton. Though Paxton and Devi rekindle their relationship and label themselves as "boyfriend and girlfriend," Ben is far from being over Devi. So, fans are left with the question, "Who will Devi end up with?"
Season 3 of Never Have I Ever will provide the answers, but the exact release date has yet to be announced by Netflix.
Stranger Things: Season 4
Expected to return to Netflix in the summer of 2022, fans have been eagerly awaiting the fourth season of Stranger Things. After the vanishing of a young body named Will Byers in Hawkins, Indiana, his close circle of friends and family work to unearth the secrets of a government lab. Friends of Will's, including Dustin, Lucas, and Mike, carefully investigate his disappearance.
As the boys search for Will in a nearby forest, they come across a girl wearing a hospital gown. Will's friends soon learn that the girl, named Eleven, has psychokinetic abilities that can help find Will. They allow Eleven to stay in Mike's basement. Later, Eleven begins living with the town's Chief of Police, Jim Hopper, in order to keep her safe from the government.
Will is found by his mother, Joyce, and Hopper in the Upside Down, an alternate dimension. Towards the end of season three, unfortunately, Hopper is believed to have died while "closing the gate" to the Upside Down. Eleven and Will, along with his brother and Joyce, leave Hawkins after all that has happened.
However, season three comes to a close on a cliffhanger. Is Hopper really dead? Is the Upside Down something for Will and the others to continue worrying about?
Bridgerton: Season 2
Season 2 of the Bridgerton series will be released on Netflix on March 25. Bridgerton focuses on the story of Daphne Bridgerton, who is the oldest daughter of the important Bridgerton family. Daphne debuts on London's marriage market in the hope of finding true love. However, a mysterious Lady Whistledown starts a gossip sheet, exposing the ins and outs of everyone's relationships.
As the season progresses, viewers get a taste of everything: romance, scandal, friendships, families, and, of course, love.
Love is Blind: Season 2
On February 11, the second season of Love Is Blind will be available on Netflix. The series is a social experiment that follows thirty men and women as they search for love. Through speed-dating, the participants date one another in hopes of finding their perfect match. But there's a catch: although the men and women can talk to each other, they cannot see each other.
At the end of the first season, some learn more about love. Others even find themselves married or in a relationship.
Season 2 of Love is Blind is expected to be as binge-able as its first.
Virgin River: Season 4
After the death of her husband, Melinda Monroe, a nurse practitioner, leaves L.A. to take a job in a small, remote town named Virginia River in Northern California. While Melinda hopes to leave behind painful memories by moving, her experiences that take place in Virgin River are not what she initially expected.
As Sarah Knight Adams, a critic for the Rotten Tomatoes, explained, "The gorgeous scenery [of Virgin River] takes you away to a beautiful nature-filled outdoor setting, the townspeople help each other, although everyone knows everyone's business. The characters are believable, and you can easily escape while viewing."
2022 will be full of new releases that prompt excitement, maybe tears, and an abundance of other emotions. The unanswered questions of fans will finally be addressed. These five shows are what Netflix members are most thrilled about.
