Galentine’s day is three months away, but it is never too late to have a movie night in with the girls, curled up with blankets, snacks and a couple of iconic chick flicks. But before we get into this list, let me ask you this, what makes a chick flick a chick flick? According to Wikipedia and Quora, what constitutes a chick flick, is love and romance catered to a female audience.

But most importantly, they are feel-good, sometimes cliché, movies that make your heart swell. So, based on that, here is a diverse list of movies full of love, romance, friendship, and wholesome moments; movies that make you look at your friends with just a little more love and appreciation than usual.

1. Someone borrowed

Luiz is a stay-at-home bachelor who has a system for avoiding love. However, facing removal from his mother’s will, he finally gives in to her one wish and ‘searches’ for a wife, and by searches, I mean he hires an actress to play his fiancée and put on a believable show for his family.

2. Crazy Rich Asians

Rachel Chu is in for a surprise when she follows her boyfriend, Nick, to his best friend’s wedding in Singapore, only to find out his family is extremely wealthy and well-known. She finds herself at the side of one of Singapore’s most eligible bachelors, navigating the world of the rich and facing down his disapproving mother.

3. The Other Woman

Lawyer Carly Whitten is smitten with Mark King, a handsome businessman, but a surprise visit to his home reveals a very real kooky housewife. The two form an unlikely friendship founded on their shared anger towards themselves and Mark, but when a third woman is found in the mix, the three come together to rip apart his carefully crafted fantasy.

4. White Chicks

After accidentally ruining a drug bust, two FBI agents, Marcus and Kevin, are punished with the task of escorting socialite twins to the Hamptons, where they will be bait for their kidnappers. But when things start going left, Marcus and Kevin step in, suiting themselves up as white women and secretly taking over the case.

Aspiring songwriter Violet makes the move every artist does to New York, only to find herself working at a bar of gorgeous, confident women, Coyote Ugly. Violet manages to bond with the other girls and a music producer who catches her eye and helps her pursue her musical dreams.

6. Burlesque

Ali ditches her small home town for a musical life in Los Angeles. She worms her way into a job as a waitress in a Burlesque Lounge. Still looking for more, Ali promises herself that one day she'll be up on that stage performing. With her drive and the help of a few friends, Ali achieves her dream and restores the revered reputation of the lounge.

7. John Tucker Must Die

Three popular girls come head to head when they discover they're all dating the same popular guy, John Tucker. They've been played. Seeking revenge, the three girls recruit the help of the new girl, hoping to end his reign and break his heart.

8. To All the Boys I Loved Before

Lara Jean Covey bares her soul in letters to the five boys she'd loved before. They remain enclosed in a box on her shelf, her heart hidden away and out of reach. But when she receives replies to letters she never sent out, panic ensues and her life is no longer the same.

9. Pitch Perfect

Beca wants to live her life out DJing, college just isn't her thing, but her dad makes her promise to join a group on campus. And so she finds herself in the midst of women, where the only thing they have in common is their beautiful singing voices. Beca brings her fresh and modern perspective to the acapella group, taking them further than they hoped to be.

10. Mamma Mia

A classic musical following Sophie, who invites her three potential fathers to her wedding with Sky, without her mother's knowledge. Sophie hopes to find her real dad and have him walk her down the aisle. She has to find him first though.

11. Girls Trip

Flossy Posse, a group of four best friends, come back together for a wild girls trip to New Orleans when one of them is selected as keynote speaker at the Essence Music Festival. You're never too old to be wild with your friends.

12. Just Wright

Leslie is a physiotherapist who finds the opportunity to work with basketball player Scott McKnight after an injury. Leslie finds herself feeling the effects of unrequited love, while Scott is in love with her friend, a friend who only wants to be a trophy wife.

13. He's Just Not That Into You

This rom-com follows nine different people whose lives just slightly intertwine, with the common thread being relationship struggles. Each person has to face the pain that comes along with love and how it changes lives.

14. Jumping the Broom

Old-money Sabrina Watson quite literally bumps into Wall Street worker Jason Taylor. In a whirlwind, the two fall in love and are set to get married, but things don't seem so bright and lovely when the two families finally meet.

15. Think Like a Man

When TV personality Steve Harvey betrays all men with his book detailing the workings of a relationship with men, four friends find themselves being manipulated by their partners. But things get messy when they discover the book and start to use it to their advantage.

16. Wedding Season

Almost all ethnic children understand the sudden pressure to get married when you reach a certain age; Asha and Ravi are no different. When they've had enough of their families and other Aunties asking about marriage, the two conspire, forming a fake relationship that they parade through the summer of weddings. But how long can they keep the act, especially when it's no longer an act?
