From Princess Diana to Zendaya, Serena Van der Woodsen to Blair Waldorf, Jake Peralta to Tom Holland, and Rachel Green to Hermione Granger, throughout generations, we have witnessed multiple types of "IT Girls" and "IT Boys". Some were the brightest witches of their time, others the untouchable queen bees, and some the charming It Boys who captured hearts with humor, charisma, and authenticity. It doesn't matter what or where these people did what they did; all that matters is that they created an impact no one could forget.
They weren't just part of the story - they were the story. Imagine stepping into the spotlight of your own life: Be the main character in your journey.

From Pinterest boards to Instagram stories, we try to copy everything around us because we think it will make people like us. From wardrobes to nail designs, hairstyles to bedroom aesthetics, we adopt their choices, hoping we will somehow adopt their confidence too.

The world is full of views, but none of them will ever look like yours. Stop copying, start living.

2. My Experience
I remember when I used to carefully select my entire look from Pinterest. At first, it was thrilling, as if I was one of the girls people looked up to. But, with time, I felt lost. The confidence that I believed I would gain was nowhere to be found; instead, I was a shadow.
This taught me that confidence is only found in owning who you are, not imitating someone else.
But here's the truth: imitation will never make you unique.
One thing all the iconic It Girls have in common is their mindset. They treat themselves as the prize because they know they deserve it. They don’t waste time being copies of others because real confidence doesn’t come from imitation; it comes from self-acceptance.
3. Embrace Your Uniqueness
People never notice the trend followers; they always notice the ones who created the trend in the first place.
Think about it: Rachel Green’s classic chic, Serena van der Woodsen’s bold style moves, Zendaya's effortless style. None of them trailed behind the crowd — they were the trailblazers. In an age of filters and replicas, authenticity is what attracts people.
Embracing your individuality is about allowing your imperfections to shine through and dressing in what makes you feel powerful. That's what others remember — not the flawless imitated version, but the exposed, unapologetic original.

You don’t need to blend in with the city lights when you were meant to shine on your own.
4. A Simple Activity
Take a moment to write one sentence that describes what makes you, well you. This practice is about identifying what makes you unique. The path to confidence starts with embracing your own qualities. Look back at this sentence as a reminder that it's not necessary for you to be a copycat to make a difference.
5. Start Living Life Like The Main Character.
Create an Alter Ego:
Create a version of yourself in the back of your mind, and keep this version handy.
Make this version of yourself your ideal self; let them be all you have ever wanted to be. And once done, give them a name, channel them at every place your normal self wouldn’t be able to handle.
For Example:
My alter ego, or Tanu as I call her, is everything I have ever wanted to be.
She is confident, even with people she has never met. She always speaks her opinion, even with elders; she always trusts herself and believes she will achieve everything she sets her mind to; she has amazing style and is always experimenting with it. She never gives up, and she is disgustingly educated.
I channel her in places where I would normally faint from pressure, and she always pulls through.

Step into your alter ego. The version of you that doesn’t ask for permission, but takes up space.
6. Never Gatekeep
Hot people never gatekeep.
At this point, your cup will start to overflow; use that.
Help others.
There are so many people who are struggling with the very thing you overcame. Help them, guide them, be the mentor you wish you had. While doing this, don’t think about what you’re going to gain; think about what you’re going to achieve. The feeling of being there through a person's ups and downs and helping them through it all is more rewarding than any prize you could ever get.

The best vibes are meant to be shared. Real It Girls lift each other up.
Conclusion
From Princess Diana to Zendaya, from Jake Peralta to Tom Holland, they were all IT figures, and each one of them taught me one thing in common, and that I share with you today.
Being the main character isn’t about being perfect; it’s about actually living your life the way you want.
Main characters don’t sit around waiting for something exciting to happen; they create it.
