To be honest, I didn’t really know what Wicked: Part One was going to be like. I thought maybe I’d watch it, shrug, move on —because everyone seemed obsessed with the cast. But there were moments—small, quiet ones mostly—that landed harder than I expected.
I didn’t cry or anything, but I also connected with it in ways I had never before with a movie. My favourite part in the first movie was when Ephaba sang I’m Not That Girl. That part hit the spot.
Now there's Wicked: For Good coming up—a sequel to finally end the story of two witches. I’m gonna admit I’m quietly, genuinely excited to see Elphaba and Fiyero scenes. It is set for release by Universal Pictures in the United States on November 21, 2025.

If you’ve seen Part One, you know it ends right before everything really breaks. Elphaba’s about to be hunted, Glinda’s stepping into a role she didn’t ask for, and the story is shifting into something darker—but still honest. This is where things get more complicated.
We’re probably going to see the fallout—how Elphaba becomes “the Wicked Witch,” and how Glinda keeps pretending everything’s fine when it’s really not. Songs like No Good Deed and As Long As You’re Mine are basically guaranteed, and I already know they’re going to hit harder than we expect. What I really want to see is how their relationship changes. That quiet shift from best friends to strangers. That hurts in real life, and if they get it right on screen, it’s going to feel really relatable for many.

Who’s In It?
Ariana Grande’s back as Glinda. Still good—still not playing it as shallow as people expect. Cynthia Erivo is Elphaba again, and there’s something about the way she carries herself with that quiet confidence.
Jonathan Bailey’s still Fiyero and he is still going through it with his feelings. The Wizard returns too (Jeff Goldblum), and yeah, he still makes everything more complicated.

Oh—And Dorothy’s Finally Here
If you spotted her in the trailer, you’re not hallucinating. Dorothy Gale is officially in Wicked: For Good. You see her, Toto in arms, walking the Yellow Brick Road with the Lion, the Tin Man, and the Scarecrow.
Here’s the thing: Dorothy isn’t originally a Wicked character—she’s the main girl from The Wizard of Oz, with her blue dress, and sparkly shoes. In that story, she’s the hero. But in Wicked, her arrival kind of marks the beginning of the end.
Without meaning to, she becomes the symbol of how Elphaba’s story gets rewritten. How a misunderstood girl becomes a villain in someone else’s version of events. And if they do it right, Dorothy won’t just be a cameo—she’ll be the emotional final thread. Not because she’s evil or anything, but because she shows up in a world that’s already messy, and unintentionally pushes it over the edge.
What We See in the Trailer
The trailer doesn’t give away everything—which I like—but it hints at a lot. You see Elphaba looking more drained than she ever did in Part One. There’s a weight on her face like the spark is dimming.
Not because she’s weak, but because she’s tired of being misunderstood. Visually, there are flashes—Glinda walking in what looks like a wedding dress, tense stares, magic stuff happening in the background. But one line stuck out:
“You’re the only friend I’ve ever had.”
“And I’ve had so many friends… but only one that mattered.”

New Music
Here’s something you need to know: Cynthia Erivo co-wrote a brand-new song for Elphaba in Wicked: For Good. Talking to Variety, she said,
“I collaborated on one of the new songs, and it’s so special to me. When we filmed it, the entire crew was in tears. I hope audiences are ready — it’s a song that speaks to the heart of who Elphaba is.”
She didn’t hold back on how emotional the process was:
“I don’t know if you’re ready for it. I mean, I love the song and I remember when we filmed it, the cast and crew were crying. So I don’t know.
And I don’t know if that’s just because they were emotional that day or that’s what the song does. I feel like the song is very, very special. I don’t want to give you any more than that.”
Erivo wouldn’t reveal the song’s title but teased, “I have a feeling that even the title will move you.” She also mentioned the sequel will feature a new song for Ariana Grande’s character, Glinda.

So yeah, I didn’t expect to care this much. But here I am—quietly waiting for Wicked: For Good to come out, already feeling a little heavy about it. Not in a bad way. Just when you feel bittersweet sadness that something legendary is coming to an end.
