Have you ever felt that you made a wrong decision or found yourself unintentionally stuck in a situation you never intended to be part of? What happened after that? Perhaps you felt depressed and sought refuge in unhealthy habits or the wrong company. However, deep down, instead of wanting to escape or give up, you wished to find a way out of the situation.
Hey, is that you reading your story?
Life is full of tough moments, and as young adults, we often feel like everything is over. I have been there, and I know how painful it can be. The hardest battles are the ones we fight inside ourselves—against our own worries, circumstances, or even our own people.
I feel lucky that at 13, I wrote an email to someone who changed my life. When I was 17, I got to meet him. It was just one email and one reply, but it made a big difference for me. He has guided me and helped shape who I am today and who I want to be in the future.
His name is Kamlesh Patel, fondly known as Daaji.
This message is for those who experienced a life-changing event, made a significant mistake, or grew up in difficult circumstances. But also for those who want to change and evolve.
P.S, This is my understanding of what he has enlightened all of us with.

Daaji refers to prejudice as one of the greatest poisons to humankind. The first step I took towards healing was to eliminate the belief that I am superior, that where I come from is better, or that my people are the best. Rainbows don’t look beautiful with just one colour; they require many.
This is the essence of life: by letting go of prejudice, we open ourselves to the beauty the world has to offer and allow ourselves to learn from everyone. When we do this, the burden of the identity that society has imposed on us from the moment we are born begins to fade away. You will see change and beauty emerge from within; everything will appear beautiful, and life will feel fulfilling because you choose to embrace a spectrum rather than a singular colour.
The walls of prejudice, fear, isolation and a closed heart, are within your mind. Break those walls and step into the beauty of the world. Life is beautiful, if you choose to see it that way.

Take the Quiz: Are You Obsessed or Fixated?
Answer these question to know if you are fixated or obsessed. Self-awareness is the first step to stopping.
2. The sky is the limit
Daaji talks about how ego creates a wall between us, preventing us from soaring high in the sky, while humility can break that very ceiling. However, I believe there is something even stronger: past traumas, experiences that have derailed us, our fears, and the weight of the society. These don’t just create a ceiling; they become stones tied to us, dragging us down and preventing us from floating free.
To float and soar high in the clouds, one must be very light from within. However, when our feelings weigh us down, how do we move forward? I previously wrote an article on Heartfulness Meditation.
It can help you get to the core of your feelings, face your fears, and remove them from your core. This practice changes your mentality and attitude toward life, allowing you to let go of what has hurt you the most.

3. Designing our own Destiny
Daaji's strongest belief is that we design our own destiny. It feels different, doesn't it? We often blame life when something goes wrong or attribute it to our destiny. Daaji says:
"We create our destiny by our everyday thoughts our wishes, what attracts or what repels us, our likes or dislikes."
- Daaji
At this point, we have let go of our negative thoughts, emotions, traumas, and past experiences that haunt us. We have broken down the walls within our minds. Now, the new thoughts we have are like seeds in the universe.
If you plant an orange tree, you cannot expect to harvest mangoes, can you? Everything we manifest and every thought we have, along with our attitude towards life and people, shapes our destiny. I ask you, how do you plan to design yours?

4. Awakening of Purpose
Has life felt meaningless, aimless, or lacking in motivation? Even if you’re not experiencing mental health issues, it's quite common to feel this way at times. You may feel torn and dissatisfied with everything. So, how do we fill that void?
Ask yourself 2 questions.
1. Do you love where you are going?
2. Are you dissatisfied with where you are?

Having a purpose is key to a fulfilling life. You need something to look forward to each day. When you wake up, give your full effort and focus on something meaningful.
It’s like asking a child if they want ice cream; their joy and excitement can lift all tension. This is the passion you need to find your purpose.
The purpose that drives my heart, is to perform SEVA, volunteering and helping others. You might find your purpose in activities like dancing, playing an instrument, or trying out new technologies. It could be anything you are passionate about.
Finding and committing to your purpose is crucial. Don’t let laziness and inconsistency stop you; that’s how you can change your life. Embracing your purpose makes you better and gives your life more meaning.

Conclusion
Let me conclude with a story.
Rabia Basri, the first female Sufi saint. One day, as she walked the streets of Basra, she held two buckets. A person jumped in to see what was inside them.
One bucket contained fire, while the other held water. The person asked her why she had fire and water.
She said, "With water, I will descend and extinguish the flames of the wrong. And with the fire, I will rise up and burn the heavens."
The person was confused, and asked her what it meant. She explained:
" I want to teach the world, that religion, is not bout avoiding the wrong, nor attaining heaven. It's about evoking love in the here and now."

I have learned something important from this story. Something has happened that I don’t quite understand, but it has made you shut your hearts to love. Daaji asks, “Who are you hurting?
No one but yourself. Why punish yourself?” Open your heart—not because it’s wrong, but because it’s necessary. Love is the strongest tool to heal anything in this world. Start by loving yourself and giving yourself warmth. Let go of the fear of punishment and the desire for reward. Life is much more than this.
People who change the world often suffer a lot, but you are not alone. We could have helped many people if we had shown them a little kindness. Love creates compassion, which is what humanity needs.
To stop the cycle of suffering, we all need to take action. Stand up for yourself and see how your changes can make a difference in the world around you. Small steps can lead to big impacts.
