Trump Has Announced Air Strikes on Iranian Nuclear Sites: What Now?

Politics

Sun, June 22

On June 21, 2025, the United States attacked Iran's three nuclear facilities. Fordoz, Natanz, and Esfahan. They call this "Operation Hammer Down".

The primary objectives were nuclear enrichment plants. These sites have been demonstrated to increase Uranium-235 levels. This is performed by separating Uranium-235 from uranium-238. Uranium-235 molecules exert a stronger impact and have lighter molecules. Light particles may get through the membrane, and they have a greater risk of causing harm to the ecosystem. I know it sounds like a lot, but it is pretty unnerving. Frodow, Natanz, and Isfahan are all precisely 1500 km away from Israel. However, a nuclear bomb specialist realises that for nuclear weapons, the best distance to reach a target is 1500 kilometres. The Israeli President has officially claimed that Israel cannot live in peace with Iran since Iran possesses nuclear weapons. Let us avoid taking sides while acknowledging that Iran, like Afghanistan and Pakistan, has hosted terrorists.

The United States has designated Iran as a state sponsor of terrorism since 1984. This designation implied that Iran has sponsored acts of international terrorism. Iran backs several Shiite militias in Iraq and Syria, notably Kata'ib Hezbollah, which it sponsors and trains.

They have been involved in various attacks on the United States. The Harakat Al-Nujaba and Asa'ib al-Haq have targeted or perpetrated crimes against the United States. This has raised worries. The United States claims to have "completely and totally obliterated" these locations. The International Atomic Energy Agency ("IAEA") has acknowledged the damage to these nuclear facilities. Let me notify you about the present attack on Iran. Israel has launched sixty aerial attacks against Tehran. Targets have also included Iran's internal security force headquarters and centrifuge manufacturing facilities near and in Tehran. Israel attacked missile storage locations, infrastructure components in western Iran, and the headquarters of the Iranian Cyber Police (FATA). Military strikes in western Iran have continued.

According to a Washington-based Iranian human rights NGO, 639 people have been killed in Iran, including 263 civilians, and over 1300 have been injured. Three journalists have been killed. The internet has been affected, and major roadways going out of Tehran have been destroyed.

The war has killed just 24 Israelis. But why did Israel strike Iran? What about the other reasons? Iran attacked Israel directly using drones and large-scale missiles, indicating a significant escalation in the long-running shadow war in 2024. On June 13, 2025, Israel launches "Operation Rising Lion," which targets dozens of Iranian military and nuclear installations. Iran retaliated against Israel with waves of ballistic missiles and drone attacks on June 13, 2025, while the United States officially joined the conflict on June 21, 2025. However, let us address certain political issues. On Thursday, June 19th, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharov stated, quote, "We would like to particularly warn Washington against military intervention in this situation," calling it as an "extremely dangerous step with truly unpredictable consequences."

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov also advised Washington against sending direct military support to Israel, claiming that doing so would, quote, "dramatically destabilise the entire situation" on June 18, 2025. Pakistan, which had previously supported Iran and had apparently promised to attack Israel when Iran required assistance, has turned around and is on the side of the United States following Asim Munir, Pakistani Field Marshal's visit to Washington, which is significant because the United States has funded nuclear facilities in Pakistan, which if the war escalates would be easier for the United States to use against Afghanistan (1640 kilometres), China (576 kilometres), and Russia (about 1500 - 2500km). India had launched missiles towards Pakistan's nuclear facilities during its strike, which would have been incredibly valuable to the US, therefore the ceasefire was initiated, as Trump has frequently indicated.

Why should the United States worry if India and Pakistan are at war? Pakistan had arranged and supported a stay for Osama Bin Laden and other terrorists who had planned and revolted against the United States.

The first confrontation was between Israel and Palestine, which shook the entire world. Riots, debates, and political fury shook the world. However, I use the term domino effect, which was popularised by the United States during the Cold War, to characterise what was going on.

In this scenario, the Domino Effect will be used for warfare. It began with Ukraine and Russia, followed by Israel and Palestine, India and Pakistan, eventually Israel and Iran and Thailand and Cambodia at the verge. Allies were created, with India staying neutral and not choosing a group, and Israel, the United States, and Pakistan banding together. China, Iran, and Russia are in another.

What we dreaded the most, and anyone who is interested in or has studied geopolitics would know, was the worst nightmare: the US bombing Iran. The United States is the final country to take action to end the war, following the 1919 Treaty of Versailles, Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, and now Iran. However, this is especially concerning because the United States only did this at the start of the third-deadliest war, which was well expected and forecasted.

Is this the beginning of World War III? Have we already entered that zone? Because I can see the hyperlinks. Multiple conflicts break out between these same countries, culminating in the establishment of allies who help each other. Sorry, but we haven't seen anything like this since World War II, when everyone openly attacked one another. Wars are perilous, and we hope that they will end quietly soon, since, as thrilling as war is, thousands of other innocent people have suffered, and there have been and might be numerous civilian casualties.
