The Best Dressed: the Red Carpet of the Oscars 2021

September 23, 2021

These past few years, COVID-19 has impacted numerous people, businesses, and industries. The pandemic has resulted in a significant economic decline, with many industries suffering and possibly extinct. An example would be the media and entertainment industry.

The revenue generated by this industry has decreased significantly because movie release dates have been pushed back, cinemas have shut down, concerts and tours canceled/postponed, and award ceremonies have become virtual. I'd lost all hope that I'd ever see celebrities walking the red carpet again.

Fortunately, this year we got the opportunity to see our favorite celebs grace the red carpet once again at the 93rd Academy Awards at Union Station in Los Angeles. When I tell you, they ate and left no crumbs with their outfits! They switched their sweatpants and pajamas for gorgeous dresses and dashing tuxedos.

Let's take a look at the best outfits of the night.

1. Zendaya

The "Euphoria" actor, who was also a presenter that night, rocked the red carpet in a vibrant yellow Valentino Haute Couture dress which was inspired by Cher. Did I mention that the dress was a custom design? I mean, can we expect anything less from a fashion icon?

She paired the dress with Bulgari jewellery and a yellow mask that matched her dress. This look is simply a 10/10!

2. Amanda Seyfriend

The American actress and model attended the Oscars dressed in a red Armani Priveè gown which was made of plisssè tulle and had ruffles at the neckline. The strapless dress was designed by Giorgio Armani himself and continued Seyfried's classic Hollywood style. She completed the look with Forevermark jewellery. I personally think this is one of her best award looks yet.

3. Daniel Kaluuya

The Best Supporting Actor award winner kept it simple and classy with a Bottega Venetta suit and a Cartier diamond necklace, watch and pinky ring for the ceremony. He sported something similar when he took home the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role at the 2021 Golden Globes.

4. Andra Day

I only have 2 words to describe Andra Day's 2021 Oscar appearance. Jaw dropping!

The Rise Up songstress was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role and, sadly, didn't win, but she did win on the red carpet. She was dressed to impress in custom Vera Wang and jewellery from Tiffany&Co worth 2 million dollars. Day confessed that she wanted "something glowing" and glow the dress did!

5. Regina King

Regina King wasn't nominated for any awards but she slayed the carpet anyway. She presented the award for Best Original Screenplay dressed in a light blue LV dress that complimented her gorgeous melanin skin. According to E! News the gown "took 140 hours to make and is embroidered with over 62,000 sequins and 4,000 crystals."

May I just say showing up dressed in one of the best outfits of the night despite not being nominated is a HUGE flex!

6. Lakeith Stanfield

Lakeith Stanfield is always on top of his game. In a Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello jumpsuit with a dagger collar, exaggerated lapels, flowing pant legs and a belted waist, the Best Supporting Actor nominee showed up at the 93rd Academy Awards looking every bit a 1970s vision!

7. H.E.R

The Focus musician has always gone for a simplistic vibe with her red carpet outfits. From her Grammys 2021 to her BET Awards 2021 appearance, we can always count on H.E.R to satisfy our craving for glitz and glamour. This year was no different.

The 23-year-old singer, who was nominated for an Academy Award for her original song “Fight for You,” wore a specially made creation by Dundas that had a flowing cape. She sparkled from head to toe. H.E.R's semi-sheer jumpsuit featured wide-leg pants and was covered in sequins. She paired the jumpsuit with her stunning long hair.

That sums up just a few of the best dressed on the red carpet of the Oscars. I hope you enjoyed this article!
