The 94th Academy Awards, alongside the Grammys, have always been a source of glitz and glamour. Each year, we all sit in front of our televisions eagerly awaiting the haute couture and custom designs of the red carpet, and each year are never disappointed.

This year saw the return of the first full-scale Oscars since the pandemic, which meant we had an entire red carpet of fashion to enjoy. And all the stars in attendance went above and beyond to provide us with a much-needed dose of glitz.

We were amazed at stunning couture gowns, including Atelier Versace (Lily James), Chanel Couture (Penelope Cruz), Armani Privé (Nicole Kidman), and custom-made Valentino (Zendaya).

Below are 14 of the best Oscar looks for 2022:

1. Zendaya

If I had to describe all of Zendaya's Oscar looks in 1 word it would be: iconic.

The Dune star came dressed to impress in a Valentino silk blouse and sequined pearlescent satin skirt. Zendaya’s look seemed like a nod to Sharon Stone's chic Oscar look of 1998.

2. Lily James

The Pam and Tommy star made her first appearance on the Oscars 2022 red carpet in a stunning pink lace Atelier Versace gown. Her frothy pink Atelier Versace Fall/Winter 2021 Couture gown balanced saccharine-sweet pink lace with an up slit and sweetheart neckline.

At first glance, the silhouette appeared to be a simple slip dress, but the high slit and skin-skimming tailoring kept the glamour at the forefront. A sculptural diamond necklace, pink platform sandals, and smoky makeup that complemented her dark hair completed the look.

3. Ariana DeBrose

The American actress wore a plunging crimson crop top with matching wide-leg trousers and a dramatic floor-length cape. The pantsuit was a stylish mix of masculine and feminine energy and had an incredible flow.

She finished the look with red platform heels and diamonds.

The Australian actress and producer graced the red carpet in an Armani Privé light blue silk faille strapless bustier gown with a peplum skirt with an exaggerated bow and an embellished train.

The ensemble derived from the style and design of a classic silhouette and exuded the same timelessness and grace of its wearer. Nicole could not have chosen a better designer or outfit.

Penélope Cruz made history not only at the 94th Academy Awards show, by being nominated at the same time as her partner, but on the red carpet as well.

Penélope showed up and out in a floor-sweeping inky halter dress with a spotlight-stealing princess skirt. The bodice featured a keyhole cutout with a necklace that referenced Chanel tweed, one of the brand's most recognizable signatures. The bodice also had a long row of buttons and ruched gathering. Cruz added a diamond ring and swept her caramel hair to one side.

8. Timothée Chalamet

A suit on the red carpet? Nothing unusual. A suit without a shirt?

Now that's a head-turner, especially if the shirtless person in question happens to be Timothée Chalamet. The Dune actor made up for the lack of a basic button-down by choosing a sequined, cropped jacket with lace trim by Louis Vuitton. He accessorized with a diamond-encrusted panther head chain.

9. Demi Singleton

Her skin was glowing! Her sleek updo with those perfect edges? Gorgeous!

The plunging neckline gown hugged her hourglass figure and featured a single waist cut-out with an asymmetrical hem that highlighted her toned leg. The figure-hugging ensemble had a dramatic ruffled pattern on her hips and opened into a floor-sweeping train.
