The pop music industry can be tricky to navigate, especially considering the constantly changing genre. Pop is undergoing a massive overhaul, with artists experimenting with new sounds, incorporating different musical elements, and pushing the boundaries of what pop music can be. This has led to a genre that sounds almost entirely different from how it did at the beginning of the decade.
Of course, with new sounds emerge new artists who bring their distinct flair and touch to the genre, making it a diverse and inclusive community. One such artist is the highly talented Ryder Beer.

The Long Island native has always immersed himself in the music industry. He spent hours perfecting his drumming and guitar skills as a child until he became a pro. Later, he began to explore the production aspects of the entertainment industry.
His natural talent and gift for the arts earned him a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee School of Music. Now, Ryder is making waves in the music space as a triple threat—a singer, songwriter, and producer.
At 22 years old, this budding artist is making a name for himself in the industry. Though most may know him as popstar Madison Beer’s younger brother, Ryder Beer is about to change that. His first single, “Can’t Take It,” released on November 17, 2023, marked the beginning of his pop journey.
The track was such a hit that it gained the attention of publications such as Rolling Stone and Billboard, which had nothing but praise for the infectious track. Ryder has stolen the hearts of fans worldwide with his emotionally resonant lyrics and authentic voice. He currently boasts 152K followers on Instagram and 9.4K followers on TikTok, and he is a verified artist on Spotify. The Teen Magazine had the chance to sit down with Ryder to discuss the debut of his second single, “One That Got Away.”

The Story Behind ‘One That Got Away’
When we hear the words “One That Got Away,” we immediately think of lost love, broken hearts, and long nights filled with endless supplies of Cookie Dough ice cream. When we asked Ryder to describe the track, he said, “It’s very hopeless romantic,” which could not have been a better descriptor for the infectious dance-pop anthem.
Ryder has combined two diverse sounds- electronic beats with pop melodies- to produce a song that relates to his listeners on a very personal level. He offers a heartfelt take on the emotional crossroads of a relationship almost at its end. Upon listening to the track, we must say we were blown away!
Ryder’s song made us feel as though we were truly about losing the love of our lives and were willing to do anything to work things out. He created a feeling of longing and nostalgia that many music lovers chase, but many artists fail to deliver on, and for that, he’s gained a new listener in us!

Behind the Songs
Every artist has someone who inspires them. The 22-year-old producer shared that he draws inspiration from a wide array of musicians, from the 1975 to the iconic Frank Ocean. Beer also listed the Bee Gees as one of his biggest influences growing up and named member Barry Gibb, an artist he’d love to collaborate with on music.
As we mentioned earlier in the article, Beer’s musical abilities don’t stop at singing either; he also writes and produces. And he manages to do so with poise, grace, and impeccable standards. We were curious about his creative process, especially since he is a jack of all trades and master of all. So, we asked about his process when he produces music, and he was happy to share, “I like to work [on music] at night.”
The Music Industry
When talking about the music industry, the singer has had a positive experience with everyone in it. Though we often hear tales of the competitive, cut-throat side of the industry, Beer brings a new perspective to the table. “Everyone’s really nice and helpful,” he states. “It’s not as bad as everyone makes it out to be.”
Ryder and Madison
Ryder and Madison must be the most adorable siblings we’ve ever encountered. Earlier this year, Beer performed with his sister Madison on the Poland stop for her “Spinnin’ Tour.”
While on stage, the siblings performed Madison’s track “Ryder” from her 2023 album Silence Between Songs. Beer describes feeling surprised when he first heard the song about the siblings' relationship. Though the pair played Arena COS Torwar for the tour, Beer says his dream concert venue is the lively Madison Square Garden arena in New York City.
Keeping It Real and Message to the World
Though Beer is a musician who’s set to hit it big, he still enjoys the simple things in life. Beer plans to go to a friend’s house this Halloween, and his go-to food is a simple cheeseburger. I mean, it doesn’t get more authentic than that!
We also asked Ryder what message he would offer aspiring musicians looking to be as successful as him. He said it’d be to do what you want. To Ryder, chasing your passions is important and the key to a happy and successful life.
