Posting on Instagram is fun, no matter if you have 10 or 10.000 followers. Scrolling through past posts is like traveling back in time and reliving all your best memories. You feel nostalgic but also excited for the next experiences you will be able to document.

Only one thing is missing before you hit the post button: the perfect caption. Summarizing up to 20 pictures with only a few words that are neither cheesy nor basic? Everyone who accomplishes that deserves a prize, in my opinion.

Here is my try on finding the perfect captions for the following categories: vacation, song lyrics, photo dumps, a night out with friends and non-english captions.

Vacation

1. "Location, time"

Maybe this isn't the most original start but it's classy and elegant. Add a flag of the country or an emoji that symbolises your time there to make it a little more special.

2. "lost in nature"

A cute caption if you travel somewhere with a beautiful nature scenery.

3. "wanderlust"

No explanation, just short and sweet.

4. "fav place" or "love letter to place"

It's cute and especially perfect for places you visit regularly.

5. "escaping to happiness"

Since last year most people probably know Forever Young by Alphaville but it's a song that has to be on this list. In my opinion it's an iconic song and the lyrics fit perfectly for your next Instagram post.

2. "feels so scary getting old"

Ribs by Lorde is one of the best summer songs ever. Though we finally got a new album again, we shouldn't forget her old songs.

3. "had a good time"

White Ferrari by Frank Ocean.

4. "good things don't last"

To be honest, who doesn't love Billie Eilish and especially her song WILDFLOWER? It's also the perfect nostalgic Instagram caption.

Photo Dumps

1. "back camera pov"

Perfect for photo dumps that cover a bigger time span, like a month or year recap.

This is literally how I see Instagram.

A Night Out With Friends

1. "the usual"

It could refer to hanging out with the usual people or doing stuff you do regularly.

2. "wtf was that?"

Sometimes there is just so much happening you can't even comprehend it all. In my opinion those are some of the funniest nights with friends!

Non-English Captions

1. "marmeladenglasmomente"

This German word translates literally to "jam jar moments". It symbolises a moment you'd like to capture in a jar to be able to relive it again because it was so special.

2. "hola y adiós :)"

Sounds way cuter than "hello and goodbye", in my opinion. Additionally it's perfect if you're in a country where Spanish is the official language.

3. "place mi manchi"

Who doesn't miss their vacation the moment they left for home?

4. "libres de rêver"

It's French for "free to dream".
