MDAcne: A New Way of Treating Acne

Beauty & Style

March 14, 2018

For so long I've tried different products, brands, inexpensive and expensive. Recently, I have found a routine that works for me with products that give me results. If you're looking for products that help get rid of acne, scars, and prevent acne, definitely read below.

Don't want to be going to the store every month to get a new bottle? Look no more because MDAcne is a subscription box with products that last for three months.

Old routine:

Since I started getting acne around fifth-sixth grade I've used Neutrogena products, almost all of them. I would try all their new stuff but didn't see results. Between my junior year and senior year Neutrogena came out with a stubborn acne product that I had to try!

I did and it worked great, but when school started back up again I fell off the path of my routine and my acne came back. I tried going back to that product even now as a freshman in college and had no results. I still have an almost new bottle in my bathroom not being used, I didn't want to give up or try anything new.

I used even the same moisturizer forever, the Clinique dramatically different yellow bottle. It was definitely time to try something different.

MDAcne:

I decided to try something new by using MDAcne, and I liked the idea of a subscription box as I live in a dorm and it's simple enough without me seeing a dermatologist or having to uber to different stores. I was surprised with the results and just the atmosphere of this product and the company backing it up.

MDAcne is a personal acne treatment based off of your profile and needs all on an app. It's an affordable way to treat your skin and actually stick to a routine. For me the hardest part is sticking to my routine, doing it night and day, but with the app reminders and my own commitment to never let acne define my life, I have been able to stick through my first three months. Founders Dr. Harth and his son Oded Harth worked hard to create an app that could connect communities and talk about how everyone's skin is different and how it should be treated under these different circumstances.

What to do when you get your first box:

The packaging for each box is perfect and like a cute surprise. There will be three bottles which you will be using for the three months. The soap, a moisturizer, and a night cream.

The soap smells amazing, like the green apple jolly rancher. A tiny amount goes a long way as the soap is very soapy but not rough on the skin at all. It lathers up on the skin and should be left on for thirty seconds before rinsing off.

During the day, use the moisturizer which is great for your pores because it doesn't clog them. It's not streaky at all and blends so well into the skin. At night, after washing your face the night cream also smells so good. It's my favorite product because it feels like lotion but it's actually doing something for my skin throughout the night.

Some difficulties I faced:

I'm originally from a super humid area and at sea level and all and I moved to study in a desert, which means my whole skin routine has changed and my makeup habits have as well. When I first started using the product I thought that the night cream was making my skin dry and after multiple days, extra dry. I had to skip the night cream for two days.

It did help, but it was the soap that was making my skin really dry. I went out of town to an area that was at a higher elevation in the winter as well as even dryer, this was the second week of me using my product, and my skin became super irritated for that week. I was able to find some help on the app and I just doubled on moisturizer which stopped the irritation.

This has not happened again and my skin feels fine now. Definitely, if anything ever happens to you or you have any questions the app is a great help and you can directly chat with Dr. Harth as well for further questions.

Makeup and a routine:

For the first few weeks, I wasn't wearing any makeup on my face just because I wanted to give my face some time to adjust to new products without having to deal with foundation or cream products. I also went through all my products to check their expirations to throw out. I didn't want to cause new acne to appear.

It is totally okay to not wear makeup or to do so while using your products. After a few weeks, I did go back to wearing makeup. I recommend not wearing foundation that clogs your pores and to have your moisturizer and primer on your face for around ten minutes before applying any makeup.

My Results:

Throughout this journey, I've noticed my skin doesn't get oily when I have back to back classes and going to meetings etc, and the moisturizer lasts and works. Logging my weekly or daily treatments on the app I can see that the acne around my chin has faded and I've only had two incidents where I've gotten new acne whether pimples or zits. My forehead acne has greatly improved.

I used to have just a lot of red spots and tiny bumps, which some are still there. They are gradually disappearing or becoming smaller. I am so happy about this! I also recommend to have a set sleeping schedule and keep to a diet that you enjoy, the app also goes into detail about what other outside factors affect your face and can cause acne.

What has it done for me:

Due to my forehead acne, I rarely ever took selfies or took too many pictures with friends with me in it. I've always been into photographing others and being the camera person to avoid any of my acne showing up on film. I really do feel more confident in myself because I don't think people are staring at my acne face.

I have short hair at the moment that is sometimes all in my face, but I wouldn't do anything about it because I never wanted to reveal my forehead. Now I'm completely normal rocking my half up half down pony studying in the library or with friends. Little things like these have improved my mood and I feel happier with a routine I know I want to keep doing.

How Affordable is it:

Get your subscription box for $29.95/month as well as full access to an app that provides personal dermatologist chats, a community connect, results that you can check for yourself, plus a 3 month supply every three months, and the products are customized to your skin. They also have a 60-day money-back guarantee. For anyone's first time use here are some promo codes: HEART-70% for 70% off, HEART-30% for 30% off, 70OFF.
