The Importance of Light Protection
I was so excited to try out the Daily Defense Duo from the brand, which had seen so many raves and also as light protection is significant to keeping your skin healthy.
The sun, while a vital source for life, also can be incredibly harmful. Too much exposure can cause UV rays to damage internal skin. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, sunscreen should be worn every single day, as this can help:
Decrease your risk of skin cancers and skin precancers. Regular daily use of SPF 15 sunscreen can reduce your risk of developing squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) by about 40 percent, and lower your melanoma risk by 50 percent.
Help prevent premature skin aging caused by the sun, including wrinkles, sagging and age spots.
Another source of light damage that many are shocked to hear about is blue light. It's emitted from devices like your phone or your laptop -- even the one you may be looking at currently. According to Ohio State University's Wexner Medical Center,
Blue light is the closest to invisible, ultraviolet light on the color spectrum. Ultraviolet light has the shortest wavelength and is known to be dangerous. It can burn your skin in the form of a sunburn and lead to cancer.
Ultraviolet rays also can burn your eyes particularly the cornea – and lead to eye diseases such as snow blindness or welders cornea. Research also suggests and that it has a role in cataract formation. We know less about blue light, as its effects are still being researched. But because blue light is close on the spectrum to ultraviolet light, it's caused alarm and is on the radar of ophthalmologists.
The Prismatic Luminizing Shield
To say I was amazed isn't enough- I am so in love with this sunscreen. I dislike my sunscreen greasy, melty, and gooey- the feeling of thick oily goop just gives me the ick.
But with the Prismatic Luminizing Shield, I loved that it was incredibly light. It was sheer to not have the white sunscreen smear on your face, but not overly thin. With application, it felt somewhat matte, and certainly not oily, which I was incredibly happy to find!
There was a slight shine and shimmer to it, which I thought added a nice touch. The smell wasn't anything dramatic, but just a faint scent of something nice.
To use, Volition recommends to: "Shake well. Apply over entire face 30 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply at least every 2 hours or as needed. Can be worn alone or under makeup. Use a water-resistant sunscreen if sweating or swimming."

Screen Time Hydra Mist
I totally loved this mist- and found it something different from your standard cream/block-based light protection care. According to Volition Beauty, its benefits include:
- Helps with blue light emitted from devices
- Hydrates and nourishes
- Helps minimize the appearance of photoaging
- Reduces the appearance of stressed skin
More often than I would like, I'm in front of my device. Not just for looking at my phone, but with the added virtual curriculum due to the coronavirus pandemic, it looks like I'll be spending even more longer hours in front of the screen. This mist has helped me assure that my skin will stay safe and extra nourished.
Made with Sunflower extract and Marigold flower extract, this mist will leave your skin glowing and minimize the fine lines of photoaging.
The Screen Time Hydra-Mist definitely gave me the feel of oil, although it wasn't sticky at all- it was more of a hydrating, gentle tone and didn't cause break outs. I would definitely say it'd be perfect for sensitive and stressed skin. Give your face some love!

Overall Review
My favorite aspect of the brand was their clean method of creating gentle products. Too many lines use harsh chemicals, which is terribly harsh for your face, but with Volition, I felt safe and confident on the ability to defend my skin from the everyday daily light I see.
I found the items not too crazily overpriced and would give it a glowing review on its worth. Volition deserves the hype- and your skin needs its worth!
