December 30, 2025

"My mind is calm, and my heart is pure."

"I attract opportunities."

"My past does not define my future."

These were the three affirmations I picked at the start of December. My goal was to try them out for a whole month and see if anything changed.

Spoiler alert: It did! Read on ahead to find out how!

Why Did I Do This?

My main goal when picking out these affirmations was to train my mind to stop jumping to the worst-case scenario every time an inconvenience showed up. I wanted to develop a mindset that would be calm during stressful situations. And these three affirmations seemed to be the best pick. They felt like me without being too specific.

They reinforced the idea that the good in my life will always be there. Even if I couldn't see it at the time. My main aim was to tell my subconscious that everything will eventually turn out in my best interest at the end.

When did I do this?

The starting plan was to repeat these affirmations two times a day. Once in the morning and once at night. But when I sometimes forgot to say them at the specific times, I thought it would be better to just say them before I went to sleep.

Whenever I forgot to repeat them before bed, I would say them whenever I remembered. Whether that was while lying in bed or in the daytime.

One thing that really helped me through this was not being overly strict with myself. If I forgot, it was okay. I didn't beat myself up over it, and neither should you if you decide to start with affirmations.

How Did I Do This?

Whenever I would say these affirmations, I always tried to make sure I was looking in the mirror. I would repeat them out loud, saying each word slowly to fully absorb what I was saying. This helped in ensuring I was present in the moment rather than being in my head.

Where Did I Do This?

I wrote these affirmations on my vanity mirror. This way, whenever I looked at it, I would see the words written from the corner of my eye, and it would prompt me to say them. Sometimes, I even repeated them 2-3 times a day because I usually comb my hair often.

What Did It Do For Me?

These affirmations proved to be the grounding force I needed when my mind went into an overthinking mood. They helped me keep my head where my feet were. Oftentimes, when I was stressed or anxious, a little voice in the back of my head would whisper these affirmations, and it would help to stop the negative thinking patterns.

Whenever I would catch myself slipping into an anxious mindset, I would just repeat these affirmations to myself slowly, focusing on each word and making sure my mind understood what I was saying rather than just tuning it out as background noise. (I talk to myself a lot, and my mind tunes out a lot of it.)

Will I do It Again?

One word: Yes.

Ever since I started my self-betterment journey, I have heard about the power of affirmations and what they can do for your mindset. I really didn't understand until I tried them myself. And now? I want to make them a daily part of my routine.

I may add some more affirmations, or maybe I will replace some of the ones I already say with others. But whatever the case, I will definitely include them in my daily life.

Should You Do This?

Absolutely! If you are someone who wants to change their mindset or thinking patterns, affirmations are a great way to do that. They don't require you to make a drastic change, which actually makes you more consistent since there is less resistance to practicing the task.

They are noticeable enough that they pave the way for healthy thinking while being unnoticeable enough not to hinder your routine.

Some Affirmations For You

There are literally thousands of affirmations you can choose from. However, here are some ideas if you want to start immediately:

  • Everything will work out in my best interest. (If you are stressed about how your life will turn out.)
  • All the love I have put into this world will come back to me. (If you have been hurt by somebody or if you found out that they weren't the person you thought they were).
  • Nothing is out of my league. (To remind yourself that your potential is always more than you feel like it is.)

P.S. You can also use the ones I did if you feel like they align with you!

In The End

Affirmations are a great way to develop a calm and grounded mindset. They can really come in clutch when your mind decides to wander off into the land of negative, and you start to feel anxious.

It doesn’t matter what affirmations you decide to include in your routine; the main focus should be on ensuring they are aligned with the present as well as the future version of yourself.
