1. Fatty Fish

Salmon, sardines, and mackerel are all examples of excellent fish that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. These fats keep the skin healthy and hydrated, aid in the prevention of breakouts or redness, and lower inflammation. They equally provide one of the most efficient and essential minerals for keeping a strong skin barrier, zinc. A fun way to incorporate these fish into your diet is by making poke bowls.

The way I like to prepare these poke bowls is by starting with a base of salad and veggies, then adding salmon or another fatty fish, along with other toppings like fruits and dressings. This allows me to not only enjoy the foods that I am eating, but also benefit from them.

2. Avocados

The healthy vitamin E and monounsaturated fats provided by avocados help an individual’s skin in terms of maintaining softness, as well as being protected. Avocados can also help increase the production of collagen, which allows for firmer skin, when paired with foods that are rich in vitamin C.

One easy way to add avocados to your daily meals is by making guacamole. You can use the guacamole as a side with healthy chips, or even as a main part of the meal. This will make your food taste even more delicious, while also making your skin radiate.

3. Berries

Berries are one of the best fruits out there, since they are loaded with nutrients and antioxidants, specifically vitamin C, that benefit our bodies and skin. The antioxidants in berries help the skin glow by brightening it and combating free radical damage.

Similar to avocados, berries support the synthesis of collagen, helping the skin maintain its smoothness and elasticity, which makes people look younger.

Making yoghurt bowls is my favorite way to add berries to my diet. The berries bring out the perfect sweetness that perfectly matches the yoghurt, making it effortless to eat every day. Another great way to eat berries is by adding them to your salads!

By constantly adding or including fatty fish, avocados, and berries into your diet, you are nourishing your skin with the healthy fats, antioxidants, and vitamins that it requires to glow and radiate from within.
