Okay, pause whatever you’re doing. Because the news just dropped—potterheads, it’s official, and a comeback we never even expected. Tom Felton is returning as Draco Malfoy, and on Broadway that too!
Yes, you definitely read that right. The infamous slytherin, Harry Potter’s rival, misunderstood and morally grey anti-hero—played originally by Tom Felton in the Harry Potter films, is being portrayed by the same actor again, bringing depth to the character we’ve grown up with.
This is the magical full-circle moment we honestly didn’t even know we were waiting for.

Draco Malfoy wasn’t just another school bully. He was complicated, kind of broken, and scared under pressure. And Tom Felton’s performance in the Harry Potter films showed exactly that. He played Draco with the kind of nuance and vulnerability that made you hate him sometimes, but also be protective of him.
Now after about 15 years, Felton is stepping back into the role, and the blonde hair that made him an icon. But this time, it isn’t behind the camera—it’s live, and on stage at New York’s Lyric Theatre, from 11 November, 2025–22 March, 2026. The theatre, unlike the films, allow the actors to connect directly with their audiences every night it’s played. This Broadway production will offer a different storytelling medium, bringing a new paradigm to all the characters involved.
Cool fact, Tom Felton will be the same age as his on stage alter-ego. Moreover, he’s the only member from the original casting to have joined this venture.

For 19 special weeks, from 11th of November to 22nd of March next year, we’ll be catching Tom Felton reprising his famous performance in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
On the casting, Tom Felton said:
Joining this production will be a full-circle moment for me, because when I begin performances in Cursed Child this fall, I’ll also be the exact age Draco is in the play. It’s surreal to be stepping back into his shoes – and of course his iconic platinum blonde hair – and I am thrilled to be able to see his story through and to share it with the greatest fan community in the world. I look forward to joining this incredible company and being a part of the Broadway community.

A source states that the producers added that they felt “incredibly fortunate” to have Tom join the family.
He gets to inhabit Draco once more, but this time as an adult facing the relatable challenges of parenthood and the complicated meaning of legacy. It’s not lost on us that this is a cultural moment charged with nostalgia, evolution, and emotion. Tom’s return to Hogwarts bridges generations of fans and breathes new life into a beloved story. We’re beyond thrilled to welcome Tom back 'home' but also into a new family: our Broadway company. We can’t wait to see him inhabit this role once again with the same depth, gravity, and humanity he has always brought to Draco. - Sonia Friedman and Callender
It’s definitely going to be an opportunity to see Draco not as a boy who made all the wrong choices, but as a man reclaiming his story—and I’m so excited for this!!
