Does your room feel cluttered or overwhelming? Now is the perfect time to reinvent it! Trying something new is always exciting, and implementing minimalism into your own space may just be the "new" you're looking for!

I spend a lot of time in my room, usually studying and writing, and minimalism has helped me to create a simple environment that helps clear my mind and improve my focus. Learn how to make a big impact on your bedroom using only a little, with this minimalists guide to redoing your teenage bedroom.

De-cluttering Your Bedroom

First, and most importantly, go through your room and take down and put away anything you don't absolutely love. Minimalism is all about creating a nice environment using the absolute minimal. So try removing knick-knacks of your desk and bedside table. Really take time to think about what you need and don't need sitting around your room.

Sorting Out Your Wardrobe

People with minimalist lifestyles almost always extend minimalism to their wardrobes, and this might be the perfect opportunity to do just that! A common method for creating the perfect minimalist wardrobe is by following the guidelines of a capsule wardrobe. Try reducing your wardrobe to one of each type of clothing item, and only keeping your absolute favorite pieces. A good rule of thumb is 25-40 articles of clothing for each season.

Creating a cozier, minimized bed

Your bed is one of the most important aspects of your bedroom. Try keeping it simple, but cozy, by keeping a soft color scheme and taking away a few excess pillows. Adding a knit throw blanket is another great way to add interest to your room without it becoming too distracting.

Simple decorating ideas

Decorating with things you already own, but normally keep tucked away, like hats or your favorite dresses, is a great way to add interest while keeping things to a minimum.

When decorating your bedroom try adding simple but impactful decorations. One of the best, and most frequently used techniques of minimalist decorating is with houseplants. House plants add a pop of color to your room while simultaneously creating a cleaner environment. Plants like lucky bamboo, air plants, and succulents are all cheap options that are easy to grow and maintain.

Inspiration and keeping your bedroom unique to you

The stereotypical minimalist bedroom is an all-white and gray room sparsely decorated with house plants, but that doesn't mean it the only way to create a minimalist bedroom. Try changing things up by creating your own color scheme, or adding pops of bright colors throughout your room.

Tips and Tricks

Is your room still not perfect? Try using these simple tips and tricks to creating your perfect minimalist bedroom.

1. Keep your color palette muted.

Muted colors are an easy way to keep your room looking sleek and cohesive.

2. Add points on interest, but not too many.

Minimalism doesn't mean making your room bland or boring. Try adding things like modern wall art or tapestries, but keep the surrounding area simple so they become the focal point of your room.

3. Less is more

Remember, a single flower in a vase may be all you need to create a welcoming and simple environment.
