These eight simple breakfast food recipes are healthy and nutritious. These recipes are easy to follow and they make for a filling meal. Swap out your sugary cereal for these delicious breakfast foods, because breakfast really is the most important meal of the day!

1. Smoothie Bowl

We have all seen smoothie bowls being made by other people, whether that be YouTubers or on Pinterest, and there is a reason they are so popular! Smoothie bowls are easy to make and are delicious, not to mention they look great for photography! You mainly need a blender, frozen fruit, and toppings.

You can make it extra fancy by adding spirulina into the mix. It's easy to find recipes online, or on YouTube.

2. Omelet

Nothing like eggs for breakfast in the morning! This meal is quick to make and is filling. All that is needed is eggs, veggies, cheese, some meat, cooking oil, a frying pan, and some heat.

Swap out normal cooking oil for olive oil to get some added nutrition and healthy fats. It may seem difficult at first to flip an omelet perfectly, but there are tips for making the perfect omelet. Here is a link with the best tips for flipping an omelet:

3. Banana Pancakes

At first, this may not seem so healthy, but this is a different type of pancake! These pancakes only require two ingredients: bananas and eggs. That's it!

No added sugar or flour. It has protein and fruit for a healthy breakfast. This is one of my personal favorites, because they taste sweet, but are still healthy.

They taste exactly like normal pancakes too! However, they come out pretty thin, so you may want to make more.

4. Yogurt Granola Bowl

This may be one of the easiest recipes so far. All that is needed is some yogurt, granola, and fruit. Just toss it in a bowl, and there you have it!

This is my go-to breakfast for busy mornings because it is quick to make. You can add toppings as well. Super easy to make, and super nutritious as well as delicious. Because this is so simple, it doesn't require a recipe. You can, however, head over to Pinterest for some photography worth of inspiration here:

5. Oatmeal

A nice, hearty meal that will keep you full until lunchtime. I always make this for breakfast when I want to eat something that will keep me full for longer. Oatmeal is a classic breakfast recipe with many variations.

You do not have to buy the packaged stuff for a yummy breakfast. Instead, make it with plain oats. It also tastes better.

Add fruit, peanut butter, nuts, chocolate, or anything you would like as toppings. There is an infinite number of ways to create oatmeal. This Youtube video has some of the best tips and recipes when it comes to making oatmeal.

Pro-tip: Add milk instead of water for a less mushy bowl of oatmeal.

6. Breakfast Burrito

This mouth-watering meal can be made plant-based, or with meat. It is the perfect breakfast for those who are craving something a little less sweet. It also makes for a nice brunch meal.

Breakfast burritos are often made with ingredients such as eggs, avocado, and cheese. So delicious! I have yet to try and make this meal, but I plan on doing so with this recipe: https://www.onceuponachef.com/recipes/breakfast-burritos.html

7. Avocado Toast

Everyone has had avocado toast before. It is healthy, simple, and filling. All you really need is bread, avocado, and salt. You can even add a fried or poached egg on top. Because making avocado toast is pretty self-explanatory, here is a link for poaching eggs if you want to make your toast extra delicious (because poaching an egg is harder than it looks) from one of my favorite YouTube chefs: https://downshiftology.com/recipes/poached-eggs/

Pro-tip: For extra flavor, add olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and a bit of cayenne pepper. So good!

8. Toast

This doesn't just have to be basic white bread and butter. It can be made into a healthy meal with lots of toppings. For example, one of my personal favorite toast recipes is almond butter banana toast, which simply involves toasted whole wheat bread, and spreading almond butter on top.

Cut up a banana to put slices on top. For extra toppings, use nuts or add chia seeds.
