10 Perfect Snacks (+ Drinks!) for a Halloween Movie Night

Food

October 30, 2023

Halloween is coming up; not everyone feels like trick-or-treating or getting a costume but does not want to spend Halloween alone. Instead, maybe have a movie night with your friends? I personally love trick-or-treating, but a good alternative would be having a movie night with your friends. The food you serve will make your night even better.

After you pick out the perfect movies, you start to plan the snacks. But what snacks would everyone want on this special day? I came up with nine different spooky Halloween treats everyone can enjoy, and your favorites might even make the list.

Choose wisely. You never know who is watching.

1. Popcorn

Popcorn is such a traditional snack to have for any movie night. My personal favorites are caramel popcorn, kettle corn, or just regular buttered popcorn. Everyone loves this, and you can serve a whole variety of different flavors for different people. It is a must-have for your perfect Halloween movie night.

2. Cookies

There are so many different types of spooky Halloween cookies out there you can get anywhere. I recommend getting the ghost cookies since they are so cute and spooky. Plus, they are easy to make for a last-minute treat.

They are made from sugar cookies and icing. I love how there are so many different versions that you can get from stores or bake from home.

Also, there are the vampire cookies. They are shaped like a vampire's mouth with red icing dripping down from the fangs. These cookies are made from chocolate chip cookies with marshmallows and red icing.

You will have to do this, but it will be so fun to do, and you can do it with your friends. They are fang-tastic and will be a hit at your movie night.

3. Candies

There are so many candies you can choose from depending on what you like, such as Kit Kats, Reeses, Snickers, Sour Patch Kids, and Skittles. They made different types of Kit Kats for Halloween, like the Breaking Bones, pumpkin pie, witches brew, and many more. Also, Reeses come in different forms on Halloween, like pumpkins, bats, and ghosts.

Snickers come in ghoulish green and jack-o-lantern. Sour Patch Kids come in zombies, tricksters, and lollipop forms. Skittles come in Shriekers Sour Halloween Candy, which might be a super sour one in your bag.

All of these candies are so iconic and are coming up with new flavors or looks very often. I personally love the Reese's ghosts and Sour Patch Kids zombies. This will give you a variety of choices for your Halloween movie night. Plus, there is something for everyone.

4. Rice Krispie Treats

Everyone loves Rice Krispie Treats, and you can make them in your kitchen as different iconic spooky characters or monsters. I personally love the Frankenstein Rice Krispie Treats since they are so fun and add a nice twist to just a boring old Rice Krispie Treat. It is also very easy to make for a last-minute treat to serve your friends for a movie night.

5. Brownies

I mean, you literally cannot go wrong with brownies. For Halloween, you can use icing or fondant to make graveyards, mummies, spiderwebs, pumpkins, ghosts, etc. Brownies are one of the must-have treats for a movie night because they are so traditional and delicious that everyone might even get seconds!

But if you don't want to bake, I suggest getting the cosmic brownies. They are yummy, fun, and a great alternative to baking. You can also decorate them with your signature look if you want to.

6. Caramel Apple

I personally must add this to the list because I love it when Halloween comes around and I get to get an apple. This is not a traditional treat for a Halloween movie night, but they give off this fall vibe that just makes you want to serve them. Plus, fall happens around the annual apple harvesting times, making it an abundant and popular treat.

It is also pretty healthy compared to the other treats you see. It has a similar amount of sugar as in a fruit yogurt. You can make this at home or buy it at the store.

If you don't like caramel, then you can get it with a different sugar coating. Whether you get this or not for your movie night, you should get one for the vibes.

7. Halloween Pizza

After all of the sweets you are having, you would want something savory to go along with all of that. I recommend getting a Halloween Pizza. Papa John's serves a jack-o’-lanterned-shaped pizza for Halloween.

But, if you want to make it personal, you can make your own and decorate however you like. This is not a snack, but you should definitely have this at your movie night.

8. Witch's Wicked Punch

Any movie that you see with a witch, this is the drink you need in your hands. Made from lemon-lime seltzer and lime sherbet, it gives off this light mint green color that replicates a witch's potion. It also has foam on top, which looks like smoke from the potion.

You can make this at home with very simple ingredients: four liters bottles of cold lemon-lime seltzer, three tubs of lime sherbet, and Black food color spray (optional). You will want a clear bowl to see the green potion color. Drink this as you watch your movies with witches.

9. Vampire Float

Many movies out there contain vampires, and you will want to get a drink to go along while watching them. I recommend a vampire float. It looks like blood, but it is vanilla ice cream with strawberry syrup.

This spooky and chilling drink will be a great addition to your treats. Easy to make and fun, everyone will love it.

10. Blood orange Soda

Blood orange soda is a pretty popular drink to serve at any scary event because of its name. The orange in the soda gives off a reddish tint that looks like blood diluted. It tasted like an orange crossed with grapefruit.

You can buy this in stores or make your own (just make sure you follow a recipe without alcohol!). This can be served for events like New Year's Eve, Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc. It is not just made for Halloween.

Halloween is one of the most fun times of the year! Doing a movie night with your friends on Halloween can be spooky and fun, but the food and drinks you serve your friends add another layer of excitement to the air. I hope this list helps you come up with creative snacks to serve, and have a terrifying night!
