Gilmore Girls, of course, has to be on this list. It is the epitome of all fall shows: complete with cozy autumn outfits, a quaint town, and perfect soundtrack. The show follows the lives of mother and daughter, Lorelei and Rory in a eccentric small town in Connecticut.
They talk fast, make crazy pop-culture references, fall in and out of love, and more all on the small screen. There is even a revival of the show called, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, but nothing beats the first three seasons of this amazing show!

Find out which Cullen/Hale you are based on how you would react to these ultra-realistic scenarios.
Friends (1994-2004)
Friends is a classic 90s sitcom that follows six friends, Ross, Rachel, Joey, Monica, Chandler and Phoebe living in NYC in their 20s. The characters are all unique and have little quirks that lead to hilarious adventures for the whole friend group. It is so cozy, and the show's Thanksgiving episodes are the most iconic.
The sweaters, the Central Perk Cafe they all hang out in, theme-song, and laugh-out-loud moments makes this sitcom my favorite comfort show. It is also perfect to watch with friends, hence the title! The show's historic 10 season run will keep you occupied for a long time, so it is perfect for all your binge-watching needs.
Friday Night Lights (2006-2011)
This show is set in a small football centered town in Texas. The Coach, Eric Taylor, guides the team with the iconic line, "Clear eyes, full hearts, can't loose." While doing this, he and his team struggle with personal conflicts, relationships, and the pressure of football. The show does its best to stay rooted in realism, and not fall into melodrama like a lot of other series at the time, and you can see that playing out in how different people are portrayed throughout the series.
The filming of the show is documentary style, and a lot of the character arcs tackle serious issues in society. Even if you are not the biggest football fan, this show more than delivers with memorable storylines.
The Vampire Diaries (2009-2017)
Any fan of The Summer I Turned Pretty needs to watch its parent show- The Vampire Diaries. This show follows Elena Gilbert and her relationships with the Salvatore brothers, who are vampires. This leads her and her friends to get involved with werewolves, vampires, witches and more.
The characters are in constant threat of some supernatural being all while attending high school. The show is perfect for fall because of the setting, wardrobe, and supernatural storylines. No October is complete without a 'Last Night on the Vampire Diaries' introduction from the main cast.
Felicity (1998-2002)
Felicity is about a girl who decides to follow her heart- and high school crush, Ben, to New York for college. Although she initially sets her sight on a romance with Ben, Felicity learns a lot about life, love, and friendship all in the backdrop of NYC subway stations.
This show not only evokes nostalgia, but is so quiet in its portrayal of each character- from its quaint soundtrack to Felicity's flowing curls. Felicity is one of my favorite shows, and is perfect for anyone craving another love triangle, or just a show about a girl and her friends discovering who they are and what they want to do with their lives.
Nobody Wants This (2024-Present)
This Netflix original is responsible for the revival of The OC's Adam Brody! Kristin Bell leads in this complicated romance between a podcaster and rabbi. Bell's character, Joanne, is so relatable, and her comedic timing, as always, is completely on point.
The couple must fight for a relationship, and prove to their meddling families that they are meant to be. Now is the perfect time to start your watch of this show, especially because season two drops at the end of October!
Anne with an E (2017-2019)
This show is based off the book series, Anne of Green Gables. It follows an orphaned Anne as she explores life with her new family, town, and friends. She struggles to adapt to her new life, and takes viewers on her journey to acceptance with her.
Set in a small town in England in the 1890s, the scenery makes you want to snuggle in a blanket, and click next episode. Fair warning, this show deals with topics spanning from gender inequality to trauma.
Sweet Magnolias (2020-Present)
The story follows three women, The Magnolias, as they navigate life in their small town. This show is perfect when you need a simple, uplifting story. The characters experience small-town drama, romances, divorces, surprise proposals, career paths, and so much more!
Dawson's Creek (1998-2003)
Dawson's Creek is finally back on Netflix! Set in a town, Capeside, Dawson's Creek is a tender coming of age story. Dawson Leery is an aspiring film director, whose close knit friend group over-analyses every social interaction they have. Along with its unique portrayal of adolescence, Dawson's Creek is famous for tackling complex issues like self-discovery, coming out, and mental health.
Abbott Elementary (2021-Present)
Abbott Elementary is single-handedly reviving modern sitcoms! The show follows passionate educators at a school in Philadelphia. Though they must work together to deal with all sorts of obstacles, the teachers are set on providing their students with the best education they can. Since the school year is in full swing, Abbott Elementary is perfect for your next binge watch.
Conclusion
All these shows pull on your heartstrings, and are even better with a blanket and hot-chocolate. Depending on your mood, one of these shows may be better for the fall months. If you are feeling like a romance with some fantastical elements, The Vampire Diaries is the choice for you, but if you're looking for a down-to-earth melodrama, Friday Night Lights, Dawson's Creek or Felicity may suit you better.
Maybe you need something funny to distract you from the school year stress like Nobody Wants this, or Abbott Elementary. No matter your preference, there is something on the list for you!
