The Grammys are an awards ceremony (or the awards ceremony) for music. With a huge 98 (yes, 98!) awards, it's the largest awards show out there.
It's like the Oscars for movies, the Emmys for TV, the Nobel Prize for science- It is huge! The show is televised, however not all awards are given in this televised slot. Most are given before or after the segment, but can be found online in the preshow or after show. It's basically just a giant gathering of musicians and public, all coming together to celebrate music and the artists behind it.

How does it work?

Step 1: Members of the Academy submit eligible songs/artists to each category. For example, The Subway by Chappell Roan is submitted into 'Record of The Year'.
Step 2: Each submission is verified to make sure that it is definitely eligible. For example, if The Subway was submitted into 'Album of the Year', it would be removed as it is not an album.
Step 3: A massive list is compiled and given back to the Academy- This is where the first round of voting begins.
Step 4: The list is narrowed down to a more manageable number and voted on again.
Step 5: Finally, the list is reduced to it's final size. This is the nominations that we see. These are voted on by the Academy one final time. The public CANNOT vote in the Grammys.

Shocking Nominations

In the whole list, one name particularly surprised everybody when it was announced. HUNTRIX. That's right, K-Pop Demon Hunters has been nominated in the category for 'Best Pop Duo/Pop Group Performance', alongside Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande for Defying Gravity.
Justin Bieber has also made a comeback this year, being nominated for Album of the Year for 'SWAG' and Best Pop Solo Performance for 'DAISIES'.
I know some of you are probably looking at this thinking "wait... Where's Taylor Swift?". Well, Taylor's newest album The Life Of A Showgirl was released in October, two months past the submission window in August. Unfortunately, she won't be nominated this year, but don't worry Swifties, TLOAS will undoubtedly be included in nominations next year!
When Can I Watch?
You can watch the Grammy's on the 1st February 2026 on CBS at 8:30-11:30pm ET. You can also watch the show on Paramount+. If you're from the UK like me, the show will be live on Paramount from 1am. That's right, you're going to need an early sleep for this one because it is on late.

Will You Be Watching?
I don't know about you, but I'll definitely tuning in. I've got my fingers crossed for Chappell Roan and Billie Eilish this year, although I definitely won't be complaining if Sabrina Carpenter takes home a couple of awards. How about you? Are your favourite artists on the list this year?
