Do you want just anyone to have access to your passwords, locations, and anything that's on your phone? When you use TikTok, all the information stored in your phone goes to a database in China. Your personal information is just sitting there.

Did you know that TikTok can’t protect your content from being shared or sold to third parties? So anyone who wants to hack into your account and sell or share your social media messages or content can. TikTok can’t protect you.

It is explicitly stated in their privacy policy. Nothing is truly private, especially on TikTok.

Have you ever been hacked? Have you ever gotten an email from Google saying that your passwords were leaked? That might have been scary for you to see, but TikTok is 10 times worse.

Even when you delete your account everything stays in a China database. “Locked Away.” It’s locked away until they want to spy on your every move. They have all the tools. Name, address, phone numbers. They can get their hands on anything and everything. Every device you use TikTok on is compromised.

Understanding the TikTok Ban

In recent years, TikTok has emerged as a global phenomenon. It is easy to see that TikTok captivates millions of viewers because of its exciting short videos.

However, behind its viral success lies tensions and privacy concerns. The proposed TikTok ban is something that multiple countries are considering; the United States, India, and others. If multiple countries are considering this, there must be a reason for this.

National Security Concerns

One of the primary reasons that everyone is considering the TikTok ban is national security.

TikTok as we know is owned by the Chinese company ByteDance. The issue isn’t the country or the company but it’s the amount of user data that this company collects. The data they have is quite alarming. They have personal information, browsing habits, and even precise location data.

Many countries, especially the United States, have raised concerns about this data. We have to remember that this data can easily be accessed by the Chinese government. They have laws that allow them to access this data if it’s to help with national intelligence efforts.

The U.S. government, under the Trump administration, tried to ban TikTok due to all of these concerns. Trump argued that the personal data of American TikTok users could easily be misused or exposed. Many other countries have announced their concerns have been echoed.

Other countries have implemented bans or severe restrictions on TikTok'soperations. I believe that we are next in line.

Data Privacy

If we look past the issue of national security we also see that data privacy is another HUGE concern. You should know that; TikTok's privacy policies don't properly protect user data from being shared or sold to third parties.

This raises more concerns about what TikTok is doing, or allowing others to do with your data. It makes you question the integrity and security of your personal information.

The proposed ban will eliminate this issue because no one will be using TikTok, so no one will experience the backlash of shared information. The sharing or selling of this information can ruin an individual, so it’s easy to see why we should put an end to TikTok.

What the Future Holds

The proposed TikTok ban has some implications for users and society. Millions of users worldwide have used TikTok as a form of free entertainment. As a way to express themselves creatively and to engage in social interactions.

If TikTok is fully banned it may disrupt stifling digital expression and cultural exchange. TikTok has changed many lives positively and negatively. It is important to protect what we have. The ban will help us do just that.

However, the ban raises questions about whether removing TikTok is a violation of our 1st amendment rights. The freedom of speech. This argument has gone both ways. Restricting TikTok might be what our nation needs to become a safer, kinder place.

The future of the beloved app; TikTok remains uncertain. Our government is trying to address concerns, such as; security, data localization, and privacy policies. As the debate continues to unfold, we will watch closely.

But I think we should get ready to express ourselves on a different form of social media. With all the issues and debates our government, along with others have experienced I believe that TikTok will be banned in the future.

Feel free to share your opinions in the comments! Your opinion matters, and I believe that our government will listen to us and do the right thing for us.
