Season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty is finally here! The first two episodes just dropped, and the excitement is already building.
But before we get pulled back into all the drama, heartbreak, and love triangles, let’s rewind a bit. A lot went down at Cousins Beach between Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah, so here’s everything you need to remember from Seasons 1 and 2 before diving into the new season.
Also, if you’re in the mood for a deeper dive, I recommend this YouTube video, where the cast themselves narrate everything that happened so far.

At the start of Season 1, we’re introduced to Isabel “Belly” Conklin, a 15 year old who has spent every summer at Cousins with her mom, older brother Steven, and her mom’s lifelong best friend, Susannah. Susannah’s beach house isn’t just any house; it's where Belly grew up alongside Conrad and Jeremiah, Susannah’s two sons who are basically like family. However, this summer feels different because Belly has changed: she’s older, more confident, and people are starting to notice that.
The boys she grew up with start looking at her differently, too. Conrad, who Belly has been in love with her whole life, shuts himself off more than before. And Jeremiah, the younger brother, becomes even more present in Belly's life.
Belly also gets to know Cam, a sweet and thoughtful guy she meets at a bonfire. However, no matter how kind Cam is, Belly’s heart keeps pulling her back to Conrad.
Belly's change is even more noticeable when, against everyone's expectations (especially her mom’s), she agrees to be a debutante, something Susannah was really excited about. It’s a whole new world for Belly, with fancy dress fittings, cringey etiquette lessons, group teas with girls she barely knows, and the pressure of finding the perfect date.
Throughout the season, an undeniable love triangle comes into the picture. Cam is a great guy; he is intelligent, polite, and a marine biologist in the making. Yet he stands no chance against years of unspoken history between Belly and Conrad.
Just when she decides to move on from her childhood crush, a shocking revelation from Jeremiah comes: he confesses that he likes her too. After this confession, Belly kisses Jeremiah; a moment filled with both excitement and confusion. And on top of that, she fights with her best friend Taylor, who unexpectedly kissed Steven, Belly’s brother.
Belly’s feelings are a mess. On one hand, Jeremiah offers her comfort and the clear certainty that he likes her. But with Conrad, it’s about years of history, longing, and emotions she can’t seem to let go of. And the romance isn’t the only thing bubbling beneath the surface.
Susannah is keeping a devastating secret: her cancer has returned, and this time, she’s made the decision to stop treatment. This secret is kept from everyone except Conrad, and the weight of it affects him a lot. Watching his mother give up shatters him; this is why he starts having panic attacks, outbursts, and a tendency to shut everyone out.
On the night of the debutante ball, all the tensions finally come to an end. Jeremiah finds out about her mom’s illness and decides to back out at the last minute, leaving Belly without a date. Just when things seem at their lowest for Belly, Conrad unexpectedly steps in to take her hand.
Susannah’s condition becomes harder to hide, and everyone around her struggle with what to say and how to support her. Laurel, Belly’s mom, tries to keep things together but is really overwhelmed by grief and guilt. Belly recognizes she’s been caught up in her own feelings, sometimes forgetting who around her is hurting the most.
And just when it feels like things couldn’t get more complicated, Belly and Conrad share their first real kiss on the beach. I really liked this finale, especially because of the song choice, which was Taylor Swift’s “This Love (Taylor’s Version)”. This scene hints that, despite all the obstacles, their story is far from over: setting the stage perfectly for the drama to come in Season 2.

Season 2
When season 2 starts, we see how the characters go through difficult, messy moments. After Susannah passes away, Belly, Conrad, Jeremiah, and everyone around them were trying to heal. Immediately, Belly is shown to be struggling; she is skipping volleyball camp and school and shutting her mother out, lost and overwhelmed by grief.
Conrad and Jeremiah are also facing grief. Conrad is still fighting with his mother getting ill and passing away, and he starts shutting everyone out, again. Jeremiah, hurt from Belly choosing Conrad before, keeps his distance too.
Before all this, Belly and Conrad spent time sneaking off to Cousins Beach over Christmas, having hot cocoa, and having a quiet, emotional moment by the fire. But they fight at prom and at Susannah's funeral, and Conrad breaks up with Belly, overwhelmed by his mother's illness. Since then, they have barely spoken.
Now, in the present, Conrad goes missing. Despite the tension between them, Belly and Jeremiah come together to find him. They try everything: calling him countless times, reaching out to his friends, and even going to Brown University to look for him. But there’s no sign of Conrad anywhere.
Finally, Belly and Jeremiah head to one last place to look for him: Cousins Beach.
They track down Conrad at Cousin’s Beach, looking very lost. Conrad delivers terrible news: The family beach house is for sale. So, the battle to save that beach house officially starts. That house has all the good memories from many summers, and now that Susannah isn’t there, it seems so much more important for everybody.
The three — Belly, Jeremiah and Conrad — attempt to prevent the sale. They have Aunt Julia, the new owner of the house, to contend with. Julia is very firm in her decision of selling the place, she does not appear to be second guessing herself.
Conrad, Jeremiah, and Belly continue to persuade Aunt Julia not to sell, as her house represents their last link to the shared memories with Susannah. Despite their efforts, including appealing to their father and attempting to sabotage the open house, they fail to keep the house. Their father refuses to draw on their trust funds to buy the house, and Aunt Julia prepares to make a sale.
When everyone seems to have given up on the house, Laurel steps in. She speaks with Aunt Julia, expressing how much the house means to everyone. Their conversation leads Aunt Julia to reconsider, and she promises to take the house off the market.
However, the battle isn’t over. Conrad and Jeremiah now need to persuade their father to buy the home. They try hard to convince him and luckily, they succeed.
Meanwhile, Belly gradually realizes that her feelings for Conrad have begun to fade. Although she still cares for him, she knows now that their love story has come to an end. At the same time, her bond with Jeremiah deepens throughout the season.
He supports, understands, and appreciates her during the toughest moments, and this only brings them closer. By the end of the season, Belly chooses Jeremiah, embracing the chance for a fresh start with someone who sees and values her completely.
The season ends on a bittersweet moment, as Conrad is forced to acknowledge that Belly and Jeremiah are a couple now. Meanwhile, Belly is partway through a new chapter of her life with Jeremiah, while the shadow of Conrad remains in the background.
Where Are We Now?
Season 3 is already unfolding with new beginnings; Belly is at college with Jeremiah, Conrad is at Stanford, and Steven and Taylor are finally together. But even with the summer house secured, not everything is certain. Emotions are still shifting, and love is as complicated as ever.
The first two episodes (out of a total of eleven) are already streaming, with new episodes dropping every Wednesday. This season surely promises more drama, new characters, and the long-awaited answer to the question everyone’s been asking: Will Belly and Jeremiah’s relationship endure, or is Conrad still her true ending?
