Global interest in Korean entertainment continued to grow, and in 2020, South Korean film Parasite won the Academy Award for Best Picture, bringing even more attention to Korean media. The biggest turning point came in September 2021 when Netflix released Squid Game, which became the most-watched series on Netflix within four weeks of its release.
