This book characterizes teenage romance in a perfect way and will make you believe in true love as you watch Hugo and May’s relationship start to unfold. Normal People by Sally Rooney

Normal People is the definition of a simple book on the surface, but is anything but. It seems like a sweet book that is about the relationship between Marianne and Connell, who go through high school and college drifting to and away from each other, but is anything but. The plot deepens and the darkness of both characters lives is exposed.

This book was also made into a TV show on Hulu. Marianne and Connell share such an in depth relationship in such a broad span of time that it will make you think of the idea of life in a whole new way. If you want to feel happy and melancholy simultaneously by a book, then this one is for you

Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom

This book is a bit different from the others on this list, but is sure to be remembered by any reader. It is based on a true story about the author, Mitch Albom, who met up with his old professor, Morrie Schwartz, every week and learn lessons from the teacher one last time. The twist: Morrie is dying of ALS and his days are forever numbered, making each chapter feel like a countdown until his inevitable death.

This book can easily bring you to tears, but will teach you more life lessons than you could possibly imagine. Reading this book will not just make you think of life in a new lens, but will transform your idea of people as well. No book will ever make you sit and think of “what-if” than this great novel.

Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares by David Levithan and Rachel Cohn

Dash and Lily are two high school students that become insanely open with each other without ever actually meeting. After Dash finds a book with a dare in it at a bookstore, he answers its prompt, and becomes involved in a game with the books owner- Lily. As they run around NYC fulfilling each others dares, they spill their innermost feelings to each other in the notebook and slowly begin to see the other for their true self.
