Take the Quiz: Which Squid Game Player Are You?

1. Home Alone

This had to be number 1 right? It’s simply the most “Christmas” movie ever, in my opinion. It’s also the most nostalgic for me, but to be fair, 2004’s Polar Express is also up there for me.

Home Alone perfectly captures the essence of the holiday cheer, but also of our childhood adventures. We’ve also had those before, or at least dreamt of them, and this movie has all of that. This is a classic, with so many iconic scenes and the most memorable one being - “KEVIN!!!!”. No one could have delivered that line better than the great Catherine O’Hara. Home Alone tells the story of an eight-year old boy played by Macaulay Culkin, who is accidentally left home alone by his family on Christmas Eve.

2. A Christmas Story

Released in 1983, this film holds a very special place in my heart as it was one of my childhood films growing up. This one has so many memorable one-liners, quirky characters, and iconic scenes such as the infamous leg lamp and the triple-dog dare. This is the most “family film” out of the 3 films I picked to watch with the family and enjoy the magic of movies during a magical time that is the holidays. A Christmas Story tells the story of nine-year old boy named Ralphie Parker who wants a Red Ryder BB Gun for Christmas.

3. Elf

When it first came out in 2003, it was already a huge success, but as the years went on, this film just grew from “A Great Holiday Movie”, to “An All-Time Christmas Classic”. That’s how great and heartwarming this motion picture is. Will Ferrell gives one of his best performances as the iconic Buddy the Elf.

When you see this film play out, it’s like you’re watching the magic of Christmas unfold right in front of you. The comedy still hits ‘till this day, and not many movies can still hold up like that. Elf tells the story of an orphaned baby who crawls into Santa Claus's sack at an orphanage and is accidentally taken back to the North Pole. The elves discover the infant and name him Buddy. Papa Elf adopts Buddy and raises him as his own.

Final Thoughts

As the holiday season unfolds, I hope these movies bring you warmth and happiness as they do to me. There’s nothing better than gathering the family and cozying up by the Christmas tree while watching your favorite movies together drinking hot cocoa and snuggling up in blankets. These films are timeless, and when you factor in Christmas also being many people’s favorite time of the year, you just can’t go wrong. So, Merry Christmas and happy viewing!!
