Details About the New Album

Ever since the album has been announced, fans have been freaking out. TikTok and Instagram were complete chaos, with everyone spreading the good news. Styles never disappoints with his music, so hopefully, his new album will live up to the fans' high expectations.

Styles' fourth studio album, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally, is set to be released on Friday, March 6th. It will have 12 songs, including 'Aperture,' as the opening song. There are also no collaborations on the tracklist.

In an interview with John Mayer, Styles revealed a lot about his upcoming album. He mentioned that the comma between disco and occasionally is important because it represents balance. Instead of partying all the time, he is referencing how you need balance in your life between fun and self-care. He also spoke about the sound of his new album.

In the interview, he noted that for his previous albums, he was protective over his music. Styles would not allow anyone to hear it until it was finished. However, he realized that this method made his music seem like a commodity, which is not what his music is meant to be. As a result, this album is meant to undo this idea.

He even played it for friends. This is when he discovered that his new songs are meant to be played loudly, making his upcoming shows even more exciting.

Everything You Need to Know About 'Aperture'

The first time I listened to this song, the only word that came to mind was wow. This song is the perfect blend of upbeat and chill. While the song mostly relies on the beat, the lyrics are emotional.

The song explores themes of being uncertain about new connections and letting go. Making new connections is shown through the lyrics: "Aperture lets the light in." Here, light is a reference to new relationships and how you should be open to letting them in. Another reference to this is: "It finally appears, it's only love, / We belong together."

However, it is easy to be apprehensive. Styles mentions this in his lyrics, with the lines: "Go forth, ask questions later," and "I don't know these spaces." While he does acknowledge that it is normal to be afraid, the overall message is to take risks and try out and be open to new relationships.

Letting go can be seen in the lyrics: "It's best you know, what you don't," reminding us it is better to leave the past behind. This can also be seen in getting over an ex, where it is better for you to not know where they are now.

'Aperture' is reminiscent of a late night where you are out dancing. It gives an excited and hopeful vibe, while also sounding a bit nervous. The song is kind of dizzying — it reminds you of when you are tired, stressed and confused but you want to go out and live your life.

Honestly, this song is what being a teenage girl feels like. You go through a ton of emotions at the beginning, similar to how we are in our heads most of the time. Then, we go out and take a risk when the lyrics start. We are confused, nervous, but still manage to have a good time and a positive outlook.

The 'Together, Together' Tour

Instead of the usual artist tour where they visit many cities with only a few shows per city, Styles is opting for a series of residencies. These shows will start in Amsterdam and end in Sydney. Here is the full list:

  • Amsterdam: Six shows on May 16, 17, 20, 22, 23, 26.
  • London: Six shows on June 12, 13, 14, 17, 19, 20, 23.
  • San Paolo: Two shows on July 17 and 18.
  • Mexico City: Two shows on July 31 and August 1.
  • New York City: Thirty shows starting on August 26 until October 31. These shows will occur every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.
  • Melbourne: Two shows on November 27 and 28.
  • Sydney: Two shows on December 12 and 13.

Additionally, he has a range of openers. In respective order, these include Robyn, Shania Twain, Fcukers, Jorja Smith, Jamie xxx, Foushee, Sky Newmann and Baby J (who will open for both Australia shows). This is such a talented list of openers. It is especially great because so many different artists are highlighted over the course of his tour.

Styles has received criticism for his choice of locations. This is apparent in the U.S., where people from the West Coast are upset that he is only going to New York City. With the only U.S. location being on the East Coast, it is hard for many fans to make arrangements and travel across the country.

Debate over Ticket Prices

Along with the debate over locations, the ticket prices are also being called out by fans. Lower bowl seating is selling for over a thousand dollars, with pit tickets reaching three thousand. Fans are outraged, mostly because the high ticket prices are inaccessible for many. Combine the extreme ticket prices with travel expenses, and Styles' concert is nearly impossible to get to.

Compared to Love on Tour, these prices have steeply increased. Fans have even started saying that it is cheaper to fly to another country and go see the 'Together, Together' tour than it is to make the trip to New York.

Opinion

I am a huge Harry Styles fan. I have loved his music ever since I was eight and he was in One Direction. Along with this, I love how his concerts are so uplifting, where he looks like he is having the time of his life on stage. It is great to see his passion for music.

I loved 'Aperture.' It is a song that I could genuinely dance to for hours. It makes me excited for the rest of his album, where hopefully, he will have more fun songs.

In terms of locations and ticket prices, I agree that the prices are way too expensive. I went to 'Love on Tour' in 2022 and 2023, where the prices were not as crazy as they are now. To be frank, I think it is crazy that it is cheaper to fly to London and see Styles than it is to see him in New York. Also, the availability of shows and not having to travel made the tour much easier to attend.

I am from Western Pennsylvania, so I understand the hassle of having to find and pay for hotel and travel arrangements. However, I am closer to New York than many people. I really empathize with those from farther away who want to see this tour.

Honestly, I think that there should be shows on the West Coast. A four-to-five-hour plane ride each way is a huge burden, not even including the time it takes to get to the airport or the cost of a cross-country flight. If there were shows in Los Angeles or other big West Coast cities, I think the tour would be much more attainable for many people.

Conclusion

While the 'Together, Together' tour has caused turmoil, there are other things that we can be excited about, such as his upcoming album. The nearly four-year wait is over, making fans excited to hear what Harry has created. Mark your calendars for March 6 because Styles' release is going to be one of the biggest of the year.
