The Weeknd is back onscreen along with Wednesday's Jenna Ortega and Saltburn's Barry Keoghan to show his talent with an upcoming movie Hurry Up Tomorrow.

This movie is a loose adaption of the life of Abel Tesfaye, whom we all know as The Weeknd. In the movie, an insomniac musician, Abel Tesfaye, is pulled into a long, nightmarish adventure with a stranger, and his life completely changes after meeting her.

The Weeknd's Life as a Struggling Musician

“I never thought I would be able to achieve the things I have. But I always knew I had to try, no matter how hard it seemed. I learned that if you want something bad enough and you’re willing to work for it, anything is possible.” — The Weeknd

Abel Tesfaye was born in a working-class family and raised by his mother and grandmother, both of whom were immigrants from Ethiopia. He was inspired by the legendary Michael Jackson and took an interest in music from early on.

Tesfaye faced many challenges while growing up. At 16, he dropped out of school and left his house, dedicating himself to a party-fueled lifestyle. He worked odd jobs, slept at some friends' houses, even worked at American Apparel.

He started developing his music vision around this time, but he didn't have a platform big enough to support himself. This led to substance abuse, insomnia, alienation, homelessness, and more.

He wrote songs about his experiences, and soon released his mixtape House of Balloons in 2011 which gained attention. Following this release, all his other releases became commercial success, and became The Weeknd we all know now.

Hurry Up Tomorrow focuses on the struggles he had to face while developing his music.

Teaser

Below I have linked the teaser of the film, produced by Lionsgate Movies.

I think everybody should watch this film because it is a great psychological thriller and a take on one of the best musicians' life. Just by judging from the teaser, it seems that The Weeknd has done an impeccable job at acting. Maybe it's because the film is an adaptation of his own life.

I am very excited to see the character arcs of Abel, Amina and Lee. I think this has the potential to be one of the best psychological thrillers of the year. I encourage everybody reading this article to watch the film. Signing out.
