"The Fate of Ophelia" Music Video: Why It Did Not Land as Much as I Hoped

Mon, January 05

In this article I will be talking about the recent music video "The Fate Of Ophelia". I will not only be talking about it but why I liked it and didn't like it.

As you might already know, Taylor Swift is a music artist. She has over 62 million subscribers on Youtube and who knows how many followers on Spotify, Instagram, etc. Taylor Swift is the artist of "The Fate Of Ophelia".

The song "The Fate Of Ophelia" is a part of the "The Life Of A Showgirl" album. Some of you may not know that the title "The Fate Of Ophelia" actually has a shocking backstory to it. According to 'Storywillri' on YouTube, Ophelia is a character in Shakespeare's Hamlet who goes crazy and drowns after her father's death. There was another major reason, but this was the main one. Taylor Swift has opened up about her past in her past songs; it's not a shocker that she relates to the character Ophelia so much, since Ophelia did go through major hardships as Taylor did as well.

Why I liked "The Fate Of Ophelia"

Let's give a round of applause to Taylor for the outfits in her music video. I really loved the one where she was tied up in ropes and being pulled up in them. The way her core was wrapped around in the ropes really stood out to me!

Her outfits were on point. Not only that but also the transitions. She looked as if she were in a real movie, switching from scene to scene with such ease. I liked her lyrics; however, there were some things I didn't like about them. We'll dive deeper into that one later. Taylor is a great artist, just not really my cup of tea. She did great in her music video, she was amazing, down to her outfits, to the casual effects and scenes in her video! She did great in those areas!

Why I Didn't Like "The Fate Of Ophelia"

Side Note: (These are only my opinions and shouldn't be took to heart!)

I wanna dive a little deeper into her lyrics. I liked them, but it seemed like she was just saying the same things over and over, she did have other lyrics within the lyrics she was saying over and over, but it just felt like she never stopped saying the same things. Now, I may be wrong, not saying that there is a right or wrong answer; everyone has their own opinions.

I didn't like the scene where she and her background dancers had floaties and were dancing on stage while water was in the background. I felt like it wasn't needed and was just there for an extra scene. Taylor looked amazing in her outfit in that scene, but the scene didn't feel right to me. There isn't much hate to say about Taylor; she's a great artist and I'm not a Swiftie, so there may be things that Swifties would say to this that I would probably disagree with. Other than that, I liked her video!
