Especially starting high school, it's so important to seize every opportunity that is presented to you and discover what your true passions are! Personally, I found some of my favorite extracurriculars through this pathway. Whether that be embracing your interest in musical theatre or delving deeper into the complex and lengthy problems in physics, always try everything, and say yes-that is how you're going to find your niche as well as your group.

2. Try your Best in Academics
While high school is known for the heavy course load, always try your best to stay on top of assignments and never leave your assignments to do last minute. It may seem tempting to jump into bed and scroll on Instagram or TikTok the moment you get home, but trust me: From three years of high school experience, getting your work done from the start is extremely fulfilling and is a lot less stressful in the long run.

3. Don't Give Up
Especially in sophomore and junior year, your course load will slowly increase with more Honors and AP courses. It's inevitable, but there will be more homework and exams. This goes hand in hand with rule #2, but truly, procrastination is your worst enemy. And the most important thing to remember is that you are never alone! Always reach out to friends, classmates, and teachers for support. Never be afraid to ask questions or raise your hand in class. Honestly, I believe that participating in class and asking questions is one of the best ways to learn.

4. Be Involved!
Find a hobby or extracurricular that you are interested in! While academics, grades, and test scores are very important, it's not everything. Find something that can ground you in especially stressful moments of your high school life, and stick with it. For me, dance was a big part of letting go of the daily stressors from my challenging courses. But anything can work —playing an instrument, learning how to sew, making crafts —the opportunities are endless.
