Physical books

We all love a physical book, I'd choose a physical book any day of the week! What's so great about physical books, an audiobook is faster to read. In my opinion, I love physical books because I just feel more comfortable with having the real thing in my hand, whether than replaying a line that I missed or replaying a line that I loved on a device over and over.

Physical books help us get away from the screens. I always try to take a few minutes, up to an hour or more reading a physical book to get away and just relax. And do not get me started on the cover designs of books, I just love a good cover design. Like dude, come on and with sprayed edges? You cannot beat that. Oh, and the maps in certain books, so beautiful, let's not forget the quotes on books! It's something about physically reading a quote in a book that just tickles my brain.

With physical books, you can go back and reread with little to no effort, but with an audiobook you'd have to replay, same with an ebook. That's honestly too much work for me as such a lazy person. It's also always fun with physical books to underline and annotate the book you're reading. Even if it's just the simplest thing as a highlighter, it's honestly so beautiful in physical books and I literally do it to all my books.

Holding a book or holding a phone or computer all day is so much better, any day. Especially since we're literally always on our phones all throughout the day, you're literally just making an excuse to hold your phone more for an activity you love. Like come on, how many times are we on our phones a day?

For school, work, sports, free time, scrolling. The list is literally longer than my bookshelf.

Ebooks & Audiobooks

Don't get me wrong, reading an ebook is great. I'm all for it. You get through your book faster than you would with a physical book and it's just like reading a physical book, but with audio and on the screen.

The pages are in front of you and everything so why not just read an ebook? I get it, ebooks are fun and great, mostly cheaper than physical books! If that's your cup of tea, go for it! I just think that, again with the screens, it's just another excuse to be on a device rather than just picking up a real book. Especially with the distractions, you could be reading an ebook or audiobook and then a notification comes up and it's your bestie sending you the latest tea. It's just so many distractions and I honestly don't like distractions when I'm reading.

Now the audiobooks! Okay yes, yes, I know the voices in the audiobooks can be very attractive. Especially Kai Azer's "Oh Darling" in the powerless trilogy.

That is mostly everyone's main argument with audiobooks and you can get a lot done when listening to an audiobook on the go. You could be in the car, getting ready, folding laundry, whatever. But are you really listening to the book? Like truly? Or is your mind skimming the words and zoning out every two seconds? To be honest, I love to be able to experience the full glory of a book and actually let the movie play out in my head while reading the glorious words of Katniss Everdeen in the woods during her suffering and surviving in the hunger games. Audiobooks are not my cup of tea but I would love to hear Kai Azer's "Oh Darling" in the audiobooks one day. Maybe if they add a little bit of music in the chapters that fit the vibe, I will!

If audiobooks or ebooks or physical books are your cup of tea, go for it! No one's stopping you! Read how you wanna read and do what you like but this is just my personal take as an avid reader who reads like a book a day.

Yes, I know I have way too much free time. What about you? Which one do you like more? Audiobooks, Ebooks, or Physical books?
