2026 has been a year of great movies, TV shows and, most importantly, fashion. This year, fashion has made waves across social media, between the viral coral pants and aquamarine becoming the color of the summer. There have been so many great trends that it is hard to pick a favorite. If you want to freshen up your look for fall or hop on a trend, keep reading for a review of my favorite fashion trends from the first half of 2026.

Sheer and lace detailing is by far one of my favorite trends from this year. It is extremely versatile, which is why it has been such a successful trend.
There are so many different ways to style this trend, whether it is with a sheer/lace top, skirt, sweater or even headband. Recently, we have seen sheer/lace maxi skirts take over social media. These maxi skirts have lining on the top like a mini skirt, but become sheer as the skirt continues. They are made of lace, giving the sheer section an extra dimension.
My favorite way that this trend has been styled is the rise of lace headbands. These accessories immediately elevate your look by making you look more put together. It honestly gives off cool girl vibes.
What I love most about this trend is how creative it is. Lace as a headband is innovative; it gives a new life to a piece of material that would otherwise sit in a drawer. Not to mention, it is fun to add a new hair accessory into your rotation.

Heritage Sportswear
Heritage sportswear has been such a fantastic trend this year. These pieces are all unique, giving off a retro vibe. This trend has also brought color back into fashion, with many of these pieces being bright and fun (since they are from eras of bold colors).
I personally love how diverse this trend is. Each piece has its own flare, whether it be through silhouette or color. It makes you stand out from the monotonous sea of neutrals that we see today.
Heritage sportswear also signifies a conscious effort to be more sustainable, by buying pre-loved pieces instead of fast fashion trends. The materials on heritage sportswear usually are made with long-lasting materials that are investment pieces. This shows how Gen Z is prioritizing quality of clothing over quantity of clothing (which is a trend that I personally love). Finally, it demonstrates how fashion can support global movements, by promoting sustainability through heritage sportswear.
Polka Dots
Polka dots have been a major trend for a while, but they continue to stay relevant. Today, you can find them at almost every major chain store and all over social media. Influencers are continuing to love this trend, which is a big signifier that this trend is here to stay.
This trend is so fun and can be incorporated in many different ways. Some examples are having a standout polka dot piece, such as a tank top or a skirt, or a smaller element with polka dots on it, such as a headband or flats.
Another great aspect of this trend is mixing-and-matching. Over the time that polka dots have been trending, people have become more adventurous with how they wear polka dots. Instead of only seeing one polka dot element, we might see a headband with a black background and white dots paired with a white belt with black dots. Mixing-and-matching pieces is a great way to show individual style while staying with current trends.

Wedge Sneakers
Wedge sneakers are part of many different aesthetics. They are featured in boho chic style, Stockholm style, and even elegant/elevated athleisure.
This trend is one of the best from 2026 because of its versatility. As I mentioned, these sneakers are a part of many major trends, allowing wearers to change between aesthetics whenever they wish. You could wear Stockholm style on Monday and boho chic on Tuesday while wearing the same shoes!
Wedge sneakers are also versatile in terms of how casual they can be styled. You can wear these casually with athleisure or jeans, but could dress them up more with a mini dress and tons of jewelry. Not only do these sneakers provide you with options to be casual and formal, but they also give you the ability to have fun styling them for many different occasions.
The most popular version of the wedge sneaker has been from Isabel Marant. This brand offers many different versions of the sneaker, ranging from plain black suede leather to a more grunge-looking denim wedge sneaker. However, people have been looking for cheaper alternatives to Isabel Marant sneakers, causing many knockoffs and resales online. Whichever aesthetic you are trying to achieve, there is definitely a wedge sneaker option for you.

Boho Chic
The boho chic aesthetic was a hallmark of Spring 2026 fashion. Peaking around Coachella, fashion lovers everywhere were trying to achieve the perfect balance of boho elements and modern fashion.
This trend was also huge because of the "2026 is the new 2016" trend. In 2016, people wore boho chic for every occasion, often featuring flower crowns and flowy elements (including the iconic high-low skirt).
Boho chic was such a big trend this Spring that it caused brands to come out with boho chic collections. These brands include Isabel Marant, Chloe and Etro.
This is one of my favorite trends because of its nostalgia and overall sense of whimsey. When the boho chic aesthetic took over the internet, it brought me back to Spring 2016. I felt so much nostalgia watching Coachella outfit reveals and live streams because I was doing the same thing in 2016 and seeing different versions of the same outfits (the flowy silhouettes were everywhere).
I also love how whimsical this trend is, ranging from loose dresses to big accessories. It really is a fun way to express yourself through fashion.

Sheer and lace details, heritage sportswear, polka dots, wedge sneakers and boho chic have been some of the defining trends of 2026 fashion. They have taken over the industry and social media, causing massive waves in the fashion world. However, 2026 is far from over. With fashion week approaching, we can expect for new trends to take over the last half of the year.
