My 2025 Spotify Wrapped: the Hits, Surprises, and Obsessions

Music & Podcasts

December 15, 2025

Spotify Wrapped dropped on December 3rd this year, also known as Heather Day, if you're a fellow Conan Gray stan. And honestly, the timing couldn't be more perfect. Nothing like celebrating an unofficial holiday by letting Spotify brutally expose my listening habits.

However, this year I did things a bit different. In the last week of November, I made a Google Doc and I wrote down every prediction before Wrapped dropped. For most sections, I was extremely confident.

For others? Not so much.

With my predictions locked in, let's see how well I know my own music taste. Let's begin with my Top Artists of 2025.

My Top Artists

Predictions:

I was so confident about my predictions because I personally felt like I listen to the same people over and over. I thought Lana Del Rey was going to be my top artist with Stephen Sanchez being a close second because I didn't find out about him until late August. I wasn't so sure about the last 3, so I guessed Taylor Swift, Conan Gray, or Tyler, The Creator because I was obsessed with their new albums this year.

Results:

5. Stephen Sanchez - Okay, not too far off. I thought he was going to be ranked higher because I streamed him 24/7 once I discovered him. But considering that I found him later in the year, I wasn't that surprised.

4. Laufey - I'm not going to lie, I kind of forgot about Laufey when I was making my predictions. Now looking back, it does make sense that she's in my top 5 because I was addicted to A Matter of Time for 2 months straight.

3. Gigi Perez - This one actually shocked me. I didn’t think I listened to her that much, but clearly my At The Beach, In Every Life phase must’ve been stronger than I realized.

2. Lana Del Rey - I was a bit disappointed that she wasn't my top artist. She's my favorite artist right now and I play her non-stop (literally listening to "Margaret" as we speak). If she isn't my top artist...then who is?

1. Taylor Swift - Jaw dropped. I'm not even kidding, I swear I barely listened to her this year.

Sure, I streamed The Life of a Showgirl for a bit and even published an article on it, but I didn't even like it that much. There's no way she outranked Lana, Conan's Wishbone, or even Tate McRae's So Close To What. I'm still stumped.

But can we talk about how cool the format was for this section this year? The race feature was so cool, in my opinion. I don't know if they did anything like this in the past (I just made my account this year), but it was insanely entertaining to watch, especially since mine kept switching every 2 seconds.

My Top Songs

Predictions:

Again, I was super sure about my top 2 songs. My number one had to be "Falling" by Harry Styles. It's still one of my favorites.

Number two had to be "Evangeline" by Stephen Sanchez. Any other options seemed impossible, it couldn't be anything else. I wasn't as confident on the last few, but my guesses were "Eleven Eleven" by Conan Gray, either "Happiness is a butterfly" or "Margaret" by Lana Del Rey, and maybe even "Coffee" by Beadbadoobee.

Results:

5. Cinnamon Girl by Lana Del Rey - Honestly, this checks out. I would have this song on repeat all throughout autumn. This song, along with "Margaret," were the first Lana Del Rey songs I fell in love with.

4. Falling by Harry Styles - WHAT?? My jaw actually dropped when I saw this. Not only was I disappointed but so confused.

This was my favorite song and I swear I played it like twice a day. How did this one not get number one?

3. Love Me Not by Ravyn Lenae - At first, I was shocked. I asked myself "How is this even in my top 5 and how in the world did it pass Falling by Harry Styles?

" But it makes sense because I had this on loop when it became trending in the summer. Still wondering how it surpassed "Falling" though.

2. Till Forever Falls Apart by Ashe, ft. FINNEAS - This one actually makes sense.

I played this one so much that when I turn it on, my older sister gets so irritated that she has to leave the room. Honestly though, this song is one of the best romance songs I ever listened to.

1. Sailor Song by Gigi Perez - Did this shock me at first? Absolutely.

I was still recovering from "Falling" not being my #1. But does it make sense? Yes, 100%. Like I mentioned, I had a huge phase with At The Beach, In Every Life so considering that this was my favorite song from that album, I have no doubt that I streamed it a concerning amount of times.

When Spotify had us predict our top song before the big reveal, I can’t even tell you how fast my heart dropped when “Falling” wasn’t number one. Okay, dramatic, but still. And the biggest shock?

Not a single Stephen Sanchez song made the list. If “Evangeline” wasn’t up there, I at least expected “Something About Her.” But when I checked to see if it was on my “Your Top Songs” playlist, I actually laughed out loud seeing “Back to Friends” by sombr was my honorable mention (#6).

My Top Albums

Predictions:

This one seemed really easy to predict. Literally all the albums I listened to this year were either from Lana Del Rey, Stephen Sanchez, or they were new releases I checked out and accidentally fell in love with. So my number one guess was NFR!

by Lana Del Rey and my second was Angel Face by Stephen Sanchez. For the last 3, I put Wishbone by Conan Gray, So Close to What by Tate McRae, and A Matter of Time by Laufey.

Results:

5. Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd by Lana Del Rey - This one checks out. I love literally every song from this album and have been addicted to it for the past 4 months. I'm actually surprised it wasn't ranked higher.

4. Fine Line by Harry Styles - I honestly doubt this was from streaming the whole album. It's probably only up there because of the amount of times I streamed "Falling" and probably "Golden" as well.

3. Wishbone by Conan Gray - The only prediction so far that I got exactly right. Wishbone is one of the best albums that released this year, so if you haven't already, go check it out. I honestly think it's Conan's best one yet.

2. Angel Face by Stephen Sanchez - Look at that, another one I placed perfectly. I'm absolutely in love with this album and I would stream it straight through during boring class periods.

1. At The Beach, In Every Life by Gigi Perez - So clearly, there's a pattern here. I repeatedly forget my old obsession with this album.

At this point, I might as well rank it number one for everything. I still love it, but I didn't think I listened to it that much.

Besides Spotify exposing my possibly unhealthy addiction to Gigi Perez, this section honestly checks out. I’m starting to think Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd? fits me way better than NFR!

, so I can’t even be mad. And the fact that Angel Face clawed it's way into my top five in just four months? Powerful. Iconic. Deserved. Honestly, this might be the most accurate section of my entire Wrapped.

My Top Genres

Predictions:

My top genres seemed like the easiest and most obvious section to rank. I started with pop as my #1 because my music taste is too basic to be anything else. Next, I put musicals due to the fact that this year, I had a very unhealthy obsession with the soundtracks of Heathers, Hamilton, Six, and EPIC: The Musical (not officially a musical yet, but the soundtrack is amazing). For the last 3, I couldn't really think of any other genres, so I put indie, jazz, and hip hop.

Results:

5. Folk Pop - Not gonna lie, I thought this was because I streamed folklore a lot during the end of the summer. But when I did a Google search to do a deeper dive, this placement makes more sense. I've been listening to so much Phoebe Bridgers, Noah Kahan, Bon Iver, and The Lumineers songs lately.

4. Musicals - I'm shocked that this isn't higher on the ranking, especially since all I listened to this summer was musicals. Now thinking about it, I'm also surprised that Lin Manuel Miranda or Jorge Rivera-Herrans aren't on my top 5 artists.

3. Garage Rock - Okay, this was unexpected, at least at first. I felt like this shouldn't be one of my top genres, especially considering the other stuff I listen to. But I do listen to a lot of Arctic Monkeys songs this year, so it checks out.

2. Indie - This placement actually makes more sense compared to where I had it originally in my predictions. During the summer, I would constantly listen to Wallows. Throughout the year, I listened to The Smiths and The Neighborhood.

1. Bedroom Pop - I was so close, just didn't get the right kind of pop. Again, this totally makes sense and I probably should've guessed it.

Even though there were some surprises, like indie beating musicals and garage rock being on the top five at all, this section was kind of predictable. If I put a little more thought into my predictions, maybe I would've guessed it. No shocker this time.

Other Stats

Listening Age: 28 - I was expecting it to be a bit younger, like 20-22, but considering that I occasionally listen to older musicians/groups like Frank Sinatra, Billy Joel, and The Smiths, this fits very well.

Minutes: 36,829 - This equals to about 25.5 days according to Spotify. This is a lot more than I thought, but I listen a lot so I'm not too shocked. But I also spin records and use a CD player, so in reality, it's probably more.

Songs: 5,672 - That sounds like a lot, but most of that was just me discovering new albums/musicals, streaming Lana Del Rey and Stephen Sanchez's discography, and trying to find my music taste. So when you put it in perspective, it's not that many,or at least that’s what I keep telling myself.

Albums: 37 - Wow, that's actually not that much if you think about it. That's probably because I tend to play my favorite songs/albums on repeat. If I think I vibe really well with a random album, that's going on loop for the next week.

Top Song Streams: 72 times - To think that I listened to "Sailor Song" 72 times is absolutely crazy. I can barely recall listening to it more than 15 times.

Club: Club Serotonin - This club is known for listening to feel good, happy music. I don't even know why I'm in it because I mainly listen to Lana Del Rey's songs, which aren't exactly known for being happy.

Club Role: Collector - Collectors are known to "save music to your library, building a large club collection." This makes sense for me since I have playlists that are 100+ songs.

None of these sections/features I made predictions for either because I forgot to or simply didn't know they existed. I got to say, the club feature is so adorable. It was definitely one of my favorites, despite not aligning with my music taste at all. My sad girl anthems did not get the memo.

Final Thoughts

Looking back at my Spotify Wrapped, I feel like it captured my year in a surprising and hilariously honest way. Some results made perfect sense while others came out of nowhere, but together it showed me how much my music taste has expanded and transformed, what started out with pop sensations ended with sad girl mixed music mixed with hopeless romantic. I spent the year discovering new artists, revisiting old favorites, and figuring out my taste. I'm excited to see what Spotify has planned for next year's Wrapped.

Here’s to hoping 2026 brings growth...or at least slightly less confusing streaming habits.
